What is Bill going to do when he loses Brady? Now the one year he didnt have Brady he (or Josh) did a good job with Cassell, however hard to not say there success has been dependent on each other.
There’s no question. And I really, really don’t want to think about this question. In a quarterback-driven league, a post-Brady Pats team is something I’m having a hard time even typing.
That being said, isn’t Belichik the master of finding new talent? I just have to faith he’ll find the next Brady. If not, it will be fire and brimstone in New England for awhile.
Well as a Cowboys fan after Seeing a LONG line of SB contending QB’s until Aikman retired good luck. I agree that Bill can find the diamond in the rough, but doing it twice? I have pondered this early in this thread. What if Brady had gone to Detroit? Browns? Would he have been as successful?

What?!? You hate the Pats?!? What?!? No, cereally; I understand why many hate the Pats. With greatness, hate follows close behind. ;0
I always use Cassel as my go to Brady shit talking point. Belichick drafted him based on his spring game footage, the only college tape of him that existed. He then managed to have a winning season despite his QB having no pro and minimal amateur experiece. He also did it at the last moment, so its not like the guy had a ton of reps. Hell pick another QB just fine, he may already have, due to that intangibles theory I already mentioned.

It’s a love hate thing. I actually liked the Pats and Celts until the Red Sox turned into Yankees JR. bought a WS and turned Boston into the most ignorant badwagon sports city of all time
Bought a World Series??? I’ve heard this multiple times about the Yankees, which WS did the Red Sox buy? Huh?

There are a LOT of what ifs in sports. It’s fun to think about. In a lot of cases, superstars wouldn’t have been as “super” in other situations but that’s sports. Most of it is talent but some of it is luck and timing. No doubt.

He might I for one will not say he cant. He has at least the chance to rebuild/reload. A lot of owners do not wait around, because Bill will need a few years to develop a guy. Man I remember when the Pats were the joke of the league. Maybe why the fan base is so rabid.

I really really hope you are not suggesting that Cassel and Brady are interchangeable because of Belichik and the “system”. Look Cassel is talented and he was another diamond in the rough. He’s doing ok over at Kansas City as well. He is really good at playing within his own game and not trying to do things he’s not good at doing.
Was Cassel going to drive NE to multiple SBs even within Belichik’s system? No way.

I’d say McNabb can kiss any shot at the HOF goodbye. How could this happen? I always liked watching McNabb play. Especially when he was a scrambler. He talks to the media and hes always poised, always has an answer but but he got benched a few times in Philly, he got sent packing and hes getting benched for Rex fucking Grossman. This screams to me that behind the savvy media front he must just not be preparing enough with film. That would explain the inconsistency with one week looking like the best QB in the league (philly days), next week looking foolish.

So by this argument if Cassel coulnt take them to multiple SBs than how is Belichik going to do it without Brady?

Unfortunately he’s not. The Pats will need to find another at least “very good” and ideally an “elite” QB. Cassell is/was a “good” QB. I think we all know how hard “elite” is to find. So like I said, I try not to think about a post-Brady world.

I would say you have at least 6 more good years out of Brady. So not something you have to worry about in the short term. However some DC will figure out how to stop him, just wondering if it will be this year?

That is the question. Can any defense stop him this year? I read this interesting article that was stating that this 2010 offense is actually better than the undefeated regular season one in 2007.
The offensive stats were actually a little bit better in 2007 but they were inflated with the long bombs to Moss. Take those away and 2010 edges them out a bit.
Also, they were averaging about 40 points per game for the first dozen or so and then defenses started rushing Brady more which took away the deep threat and they ended up scoring 29 points per game the rest of the way and obviously got taken out in the SB.
This year after a dozen or so games the Pats are actually scoring more and getting better and better and they don’t rely on the deep threat anymore. Rush Tom Brady now? Pick your poison. Welker, Woodhead, Branch, Hernandez, Gronkowski, etc all for short passes and dynamic runs after the catch. He can get rid of it so quickly now.
If, and I mean if, the Pats continue this and win the SB wouldn’t there be some conventional NFL knowledge thrown out the window? That a dominant offense can overcome the best defenses? I know in 2007 that was going to be the case but alas they didn’t finish the job. What if they do this year?
I guess we’ll see. It’s still a loooong road to be even entertaining that idea.
^ If the Pats dont win it, it will because of the D. They are ranked at the bottom of the league and while they have shown improvement they are still young. Only way to beat them will be like the approach has been for Indy, keep Brady off the field and score a lot of points.

And this is where I think Belichik has done his finest work and why he should get coach of the year honors. What he has done with that young defense is amazing. They are obviously very talented. Its very hard, however, to coalesce in one season when you have four rookie starters on your defensive line and they have from game to game. I know where they rank statistically but they continue to improve week-to-week.
If they/he can keep this up, that will be the difference for this team’s chances in the post-season.
^ I dont know, I would have to say Morris gets coach of the year. Would you ever think the Bucs would be where they are? They are the youngest team in the NFL. But they will probably give it to Mike Smith dont know why just a feeling.

Shanahan is ripping that team apart at the seams.

Maybe Shanny is a racist?
haha, hahahahah.
Nope, Donny isn’t that good. The Eagles were good, with a good coach. He wasn’t, nor is he.
I’ll state the obvious regarding the pats rookies. Playoff football is not regular season football, will they faulter under the pressure in january?. They play at home with the top seed(so far) so that helps them out tremendously, also obvious.
Belichick is a sneaky fuckin’ russian and a cheat…he knows how to teach players and a first ballot HOF…asshole lol.

This is fandom Beans. Hard to see things from the outside and understand why they do things. Shanny has to flip this team, they have not won with the current roster. To do that takes time, Shanny is just stop gaping things until he can make it his own. He has three games left, no chance for the playoffs and he knows what he has in McNabb. Maybe he really wants to see if the Rexanator is worth taking the reigns for a few years to groom his franchize QB he will draft?
