Newbie Thread for TRT/HRT?

Is there a thread anywhere on the forum that acts as a primer for Hormone replacement therapy. Obviously there are a lot of good threads on the subject, but as someone who is new to it I have a bunch of questions that surely have been asked and answered before. Is there a good thread or article around that will take me through the basics?

This would be an excellent article to read;

The TestosteroneSyndrome by Eugene Shippen.

Hey, gang. New here. 42 years old. Lifted on and off most of life ( mostly off for last decade, though), and trying to get back into shape. Got a new trainer, and have lost 14 lbs of mostly fat in three weeks, so that’s good.

A buddy of mine is a cop and ripped to shreds , so he suggested I start going to his doctor a few weeks ago for HRT. Doc prescribed me with Testosterone cypionate,0.2 cc twice a week.

When I mentioned concerns about my balls shrinking, he prescribed HCG, 1/2 cc 2x a week. Both into the “belly fat”… I still have a fair amount of that, LOL

Basically, I sat on it all for two weeks… couldnt’ decide if I wanted to inject anything or “stay natural”, even though my Test and Free test levels came out kind of low. ( Test is 436, and Free test is 94)

Finally, at Doc’s urgings, I started. The Cyp was fine. Took it twice, and then I started the HCG. HATED it! My balls really felt funny, even kind of hurt. “Blue” all the time, really quick. Always “moving around”, it seemed. Wood woke me up several times a night, too. I definitely didnt’ liek the feeling. Also, kind of “burned” in my groin “lines”. Anyone else had a similar experience?

I called the doc, and HE is on “medical leave” the rest of the month! So I cant’ ask questions. Frustrated, I stopped everything.

Just went to another HRT Doc today, to get a second opinion (spending way too much $$ on this). He wants to put me on Pregnenalone and DHEA, to do bioidentical stuff more. And the machine he put me in to test BF%??? Man, I seem fatter than ever! (my trainer does calipers).

So, I’m more confused than ever. Anybody out there had similar experiences? Any advice from people who have had HRT?

Any help would be appreciated.

There a lot of knowledgable people here who might be able to help you. But you will need to list all your stats, as well as your lab numbers including ranges. Good luck

Though KSman needs to write his book … everything else but this book is either out of date or pretty much just fluff.

It is amazing just how little there is. T-Nation really ought to split the forums, it would make it easier I think.

AGREED!

I have see enough junk and garbage in “Sticky Treads” that I am not excited about this. There are rants and dog fights and newbee’s expounding on their new knowledge and shallow understanding. Sticky’s get hijacked with personal questions and lab results.

The sticky soon is no longer concise, just another never ending thread. I think that a good sticky needs an owner who can edit and delete posts that are not part of the “mission”. Maybe we need a new model of for this.

The sticky would need to be educational. Posts to specific questions or circumstances should not be replied to with suggestions to do see Dr. Chrisler [for example]. If we do that, we might as well create a sticky and put allthingsmale.com in it and then not do anything else.

A sticky is too small for the many various topics that would need to be addressed by themselves. A new forum would allow for multiple sticky’s that can cross reference each other. Keeping the sub topic stick’s pure would require a lot of work as these would tend to drift into generalities.

Managing all of that would be a lot of work for a few who are up to the task.

Or maybe once the “powers that be” decide that something is to become a sticky, after that it is locked down and only the originator and/or the site mod can edit it for new info updates, corrections, etc.
