Rather than Cytogainer, go for Metabolic Drive Complete or take regular Metabolic Drive with oats in it.
You could also try mixing up oats, yoghurt and protein powder. I have this every morning for breakfast = 725kCal.
Follow everyone else’s advice and follow one of CT or CWs programs. I can personally vouch for TBT and HSS100 although the latter is going to be too advanced for you right now.
Make sure that at least 2/3 of the exercises you do in each workout are compound movements:
Bench - Squat - Deadlift - Dip - Chinup - Pullup - Military Press
If you don’t know what a certain exercise is, you can look it up here:

Good luck![/quote]
Thanks!
(I can’t figure out the difference between a Chinup and a Pull up on that site. They look identical…)

Chinup = palms facing you,
pull up = palms facing away from you.
I just read all the preceding posts and you REALLY are a beginner. Might I ask how old you are and if you’ve ever played any sports???
The Beginner’s Thread at the top of this forum is quite good. I’ve been training for over 17 years and I still read through it once a year, just to refresh myself.
The keys to bodybuilding, IMHO, are consistency, intensity, focus, planning, and humility, and passion.
Without YEARS of CONSISTENT workouts and proper nutrition, you’ll NEVER reach your goals.
When you workout, you must try to increase the intensity of each workout whether it be giving more effort than the last workout, adding more sets/reps to the workout, or trying for greater poundages lifted in said workout.
You must FOCUS on your goals both inside and outside the weightroom. Find a specific goal and GO for it. Don’t let anyone stand in your way, whether it be all the comments you’ll hear about your crazy eating habits or workout regimen. Stay FOCUSED, regardless of what’s going on around you.
You must PLAN your workouts, meals, daily tasks, and life in general if you want to succeed. Plan for the unexpected, whether it means doing pushups/pullups, walking lunges, etc at home if you can’t get to the gym for whatever reason. Have a supply of nuts, a protein shake/bar, tuna packets, water, WHATEVER in your car or at your desk when you know you won’t be able to eat for a few hours.
Have enough HUMILITY to know that you DON’T and WON’T know everything about lifting or nutrition, or anything else for that matter. It’s OK to fail when your are trying your best, but you still fail if you don’t try. It’s OK not to know or understand something ONCE, just learn from it and move on.
You MUST live and lift with PASSION. PASSION for learning, achieving, and change is a must when living the bodybuilder lifestyle. But be smart enough to know that not everyone will share your passion for weights and you can’t give it to them, passion comes from within.
I’m not much of a writer, but I hope you’ve gotten something out of what I’ve written.
Good luck and ASK QUESTIONS, (just use the search function first)

Of course I’m a newb! I wouldn’t lie
I’ve lifted on and off for several years now – but never got serious or read anything. I picked up weights for a few weeks in High school through the “BFS” (Bigger Faster Stronger) program. I was so scrawny that I felt embarrassed though so I didn’t stick with it. The other kids would spit on me and other nonsense also – not very encouraging =/
Two years ago I was unemployed for awhile and joined a gym. I was 123 @ 9% bodyfat when I started. I didn’t stick with it as I had no car and the gym was about an hour bike ride away from my house. I gained some weight up to 132 pounds from just not working anymore.
In may of this year I got divorced and suddenly have found myself with more time to accomplish MY goals. This summer I started working out again and got up to 143 lbs, but when the school semester started in August I got sick and stopped going to the gym. I promptly dropped back down to 136. At least I gained some muscle!
This winter after fall semester was out I started doing a lot more research on bodybuilding nutrition as nutrition in general is a hobby of mine. Inadequate nutrition for how much work I was doing was really sapping my body and why I was repeatedly getting sick at the beginning of the semester.
So, I started eating a lot more and taking CLA and Creatine and alot of Vitamin E and C. (Those seem to be cheap and effective supplements. Not $80 a bottle for 22 days worth…) I’ve gained up to 145 again but as the title suggests I’ve hit a plateau.
However, I did deadlifts and bench press yesterday and I am sore in places I didn’t know I had muscles! So I suspect these compound exercises are going to help me get back on track!
Also, reading that “Eating Massive” article informed me I’m not eating quite enough anymore for how much calories I’m burning. As I skip breakfast in the morning I suspect adding a good breakfast will remedy this problem ![]()
Thank you all for the information and time!
I just wanted to say thanks to the people who responded to this post. Helped a lot. I weigh in at 163ish right now.
I’ll post a before and after picture soon. I’m trying to figure out where I put my before picture =/
