So how’d you find the DE benching? Move it fast as fuck on those reps? I hear you on squat depth…especially at a meet man, GO DEEP! haha

Hope Westside treats you like it treats me, WITH GAINS!

I like the DE stuff with the monster minis. Speed was good on all but the last set of close grip. I can blast up a given weight with normal grip or illegal wide, but close grip is harder, and it’s a PITA to break down the bands and whatnot to change the weight. Next week I’m going to try semi-close grip. This week I had the index and ring fingers inside the knurling on the smooth. I’m gonna widen that up to index finger just outside the smooth and see if it works better.

ME bench tonight. I’ve got a 2x4 that I was planning on cutting up and gluing into 1, 2, and 3 board segments. Thinking it’ll be rack bench tonight though. The squat rack keeps the bar about 3-4" of the chest, so it’s kinda like a 2 board. Hopefully the one and only freakin’ rack isn’t taken.
Plan B is decline bench.

ME upper

Gym was crowded as fuck today, so had to wait around awhile before I could kick things off in ernest.

bench- warmup
barxalot,
135x10, 8

DB rows
60x10
80x10
100x10

finally the rack opened up.

rack dead bench - I was way off on my previous guesstimate, the bar only sits about 1-1.5" off my chest, just below my usual sticking point. So these were like a 1-board dead bench
135x5
185x5
225x3
275x1 (96%)
295x0F
285x1 SLOW grinder, almost bailed on it but stuck it out and kept pushing. (100% on the day)
275x1, 1, 1 (96%)

5 reps total at 90+%

These were eye opening, to say the least. That first 2-3" of the movement were hard as fuck, but everything past that was a breeze. I was surprised how not having ANY stretch reflex at all changed the difficulty.

standing DB OHP
40x10
50x5
60x5
70x5
80x1 had a tough time getting these up into position just to start the set

wg pullups chins

wg lat pulldown
100x10
120x10
140x10
160x6
180x5

BW dips to finish it out

I knew that Manta ray thing was digging into my shoulders, but I didn’t realize how much!

It gave me a hickey!

BTW, you’re free to point and laugh at the beginnings of some epic farmer’s tan. I don’t mind. Spent all day Sunday outside at a USPSA match
