I think you’re a little bit older than me, but I’m quickly approaching that point.
I’ve always loved drinking and being drunk and having a wild time, but at this point, I hate being THAT guy that drank too much, and I definitely was on NYE. It’s not like it was shocking to the people I was with- they’ve all known me for a long time, and are the same kind of way.
But I’m getting to the point where I’d rather get a buzz on but know in the morning that I didn’t embarrass the shit out of myself, that I didn’t do some stupid shit and get arrested, that I didn’t get into trouble… all of which have happened or nearly happened in the last two months.
There’s been a line of wakeup calls for me, and I’m really trying to put lifting and boxing above drinking and partying for the first time… all because of FUCKING NYE.

I much prefer being high to being drunk, you have much more control, although I limit my smoking to being in a home environment because I hate being stoned in public.
When I get drunk, I just get forgetful, and I hate not remembering what went on the night before. Hangover + feeling of regret = uncomfortable anxiety.
For New Year’s weekend, I was in Florida having sex with a Goth chick who was trying to get her blond co-worker to come over to the hotel for a threesome. The threesome didn’t happen, but I wasn’t too worried, I already had one lined up for when I got back. THAT was way more fun than NYE.
