New Year... New Goals?

My goal last year was to complete 10 pull ups on my own…unassisted, one right after the other. I can check that one off my list I actually accomplished it!! This year I would like to work on the mental side of lifting. Far too often I let the weight intimidate me and then compromise my form because of it. This year, I will not be affraid of the heavy weight…whats the worse that can happen? I will no longer trick myself into thinking the weight is light, I will know its heavy and lift it!

Some personal goals for the next year:
a.Drop the publishing client I’ve had for 5 years
b.Find a new client to replace the above!
c.If neither works out, get a real job
Continue to not do the diet/weight stress thing
Cook more, eat more
a.Continue to help my daughter get thru her first year of high school, and help her become more organized. Any tips for getting a 13 year old head out of the clouds=greatly appreciated.
b.Help said daughter to understand that she must balance her artistic pursuits with academic performance
Sneak vegetables into my boyfriends food somehow.
I listed my gym goals on another thread.

Does it count if I say I want to date a hardbody/powerful woman?

50 kg snatch
60 kg c&j

currently 44 kg snatch and 52.5 kg (combined) c&j. I’ve done 55 kg clean and a 55 kg jerk from the rack… just not together.

2006 World Masters 1st place for my age and weight class is 61 kg snatch and 82.5 c&j, to put things in perspective.

Get my lifts up to something respectable:
Dead - 180kg
Squat - 140kg
Bench - 100kg

Focus on studying for my new degree. (Changing from an IT Nerd to a Buff Barrister - just thought of that nickname. I like it!)

Go backpack Europe for a few weeks.

Become better at my current job and ask for that pay rise sometime in the middle of next year!

Grow a few inches taller (Ha! OK maybe not.)

I’m callin the feds, you guys are comitting internal thought fraud. That was my goal. Her mind has to be equally as hard and powerful as her body though, no more of these sissy girls.

Seconded!

Thanks for the sweet comments everyone. I am very lucky to have found my honey and to be having a baby with him.

My goals for the new year are to get back on track with lifting. I’d really like to work on basics with my form. It’s been an issue with squats and deads in the past and I’m tired of being held back by it.

I really haven’t decided how to get back into training after the baby, but I know I’ll be using low weight and concentrating on my form for a good month or so. Probably my biggest goal for this training year is to have a really solid ass to grass squat.

Sic, what a great picture - you both look great!

Jana, I look forward to seeing you post more.

YoMomma & Gojira, I’m really glad to hear you are both doing better.

Claire, your goals sound like a really good approach.

I have more thinking to do before declaring my own goals.

I agree with Jellybop I will declare my goals after a little more thought. Immediate goal stop eating Christmas cookies.

I think that might have to be my new name after eating all this xmas crap :stuck_out_tongue:

Haha! I know, I’ve spent the last two days baking them. They make cheap and impressive presents for those who hate baking and don’t think cookies are evil. I’ll post a picture when I got done icing my sugar cookies in a bit.

Sorry. Hit the wrong key.

My primary 2008 goal is fat loss. Just like it was last year. I’m taking my “before” shots tomorrow…probably a double rude-awakening coupled with a hangover :0

I had a fantastic year with my career with a major raise and promotion. All my attention and focus was going to my job and new responsibilities. I didn’t want to screw it up since it took so damn long to finally start happening for me.

So…although I tried to get some regular exercise and ate OK, the “physique transformation” goal fell off the radar in 2007, but I am resurrecting it for 2008. I hope to post more and show some decent progress 2008!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL !

Congrats on reaching the career goals, that has to feel really good.

OK, my number one goal is to fit back into all my pants again.

My other goals are to do more reading, journaling and self-nurturing (which as a sahm of 2 crazy little boys I find very hard to do) so that I can make some personal, emotional progress in my life which will in turn help me stay motivated and focused with my health and fitness.

For quite a while now my goals has been to get to a lean, muscular physique and then stay there while I focus on gaining strength. Since I continue to struggle with consistency, I finally realized that I need to do some internal work and get my head on straight in order to make this happen.

Tomorrow starts a major fat loss attack along with a new schedule at home and more reading and introspection.

This will be the year I go from “pretty good” to “fanfuckingtastic”.

Strength Goals

I’m just gonna hang onto my strength goals from 2007. I knew from the start that they were long term goals so this year I plan to just continue chipping away at them. Hopefully get at least the deadlift and bench. For the record, they are a 265lbs deadlift, a 231lb squat and a 110lb bench.

Weight Goals

To get back down to 132lbs - I weighed 139lbs this morning (damn Christmas) so I basically want to get back down to my ‘normal’ weight. I’ll probably aim to do this over 6 - 7 weeks, I’m in no rush like. Then at some stage, I’d like to go down to 128lbs. If I was ever to compete, this is the weight class I’d be shooting for. I just want to see if there’s any strength loss and if so, just how much and also if such a weight is maintainable.

I love that attitude btw!
