New To The Site

Not to beat that horse, but…

Jackie, I think I must have been unclear about something… I was suggesting the NEPA work on top of a workout routine, not in lieu of one. I used to be dripping in sweat by the end of washing my clothes in a bucket, so it was def. work.

Diet wise, I was trying to highlight that there is a definate bias on this site to be aware of. I lost 60 lbs in a year, ran further, and got stronger (noob gains) while not eating a lot of protein (maybe a liter of milk and a kilo of chicken a week), so it can be done. OP just stated that he was trying to lose some weight. As someone that used to be very overweight, I think it’s more important to establish a generally sustainable lifestyle of exercise and eating well for the most part before moving on to macros and other details. Everyone knows how to eat healthy in general: “stop eating crap” was enough for this guy (apparently too much).

Cheers

No worries. I understand what you’re saying about being more active in general but one would assume, that even in a beginners section, everyone would already know that. Maybe I have too high expectations?

Good for you for losing your weight! I mean that sincerely. It’s not easy and 60 pounds is no joke. I was up to just under 200 pounds and in less than six months was down 64 pounds by eating a la Atkins style and resistance training and my skin tone was very tight. Most people after losing that much weight have the skinny fat, saggy skin appearance.

So, it would seem that it’s possible to lose weight using several different approaches but I would prefer the one with the better visual appeal at the end of the day.

By the way, I completely agree with you on macros and such. Couldn’t agree with you more in the OP’s case. One should learn at some point to track those but at the OP’s stage, it would have been overload, as were the comments about not eating crap. Everyone has different levels of motivation and sensitivity. For some, it’s too much and that’s why only few lift or stick with it.

Cheers to you too and glad that you achieved your goal.

    hey,pete
i am new to weight training but not to fat loss,if you continue your dieting, getting pissed off with it and as the dieting days build upon the previous days its a lot harder…so enjoy your life eat as you regularly will when not on a diet, and introduce fasting to your routine, keep a 24 hours fast 2 times a week, and you will lose fat, fasting also help in soo many other things…and you will find a full explaination to this in a book writen by brad pilon “eat stop eat”.
