New to Anabolic Diet

Alright, so I’m deciding to go on the AD. This will be a hard switch going from the warrior diet. I go to the chow hall so fat is not a problem. Does anyone have a sample plan they could lay out for calories? I’m only 130 but I’m 71 inches because I lost a lot of weight in Iraq. I want to get back up to around 160-165 at least, so I was thinking a 3,000 calorie start off would be good, but I hate counting carbs. My first day looked like this:

0730: 4 eggs, 4 pieces of bacon
1030: Oh Yeah Protein bar (8g-2g Fiber=6g)
1230: 2 cheeseburgers, mustard
1530: Labrada lean protein shake (9g-5g Fiber=4g)
1730: 2 cheeseburgers, mustard

The protein bar was a one time thing, did not like the sweet chocolate. Also, is the protein shake too much? It’s high in fat, but also lots of protein. Any suggestions for better snacks? Would almonds or mixed nuts be better? Any help would be good. And, how do you count calories on the carb up? Since I’m just starting how long should I wait for carb up, and how long in between should I do carb up?

Would a protein bar be a better snack than a shake or no?

Wow… are you doing the AD purely based on information you’ve read in posts or did you actually read the book?

I’ll post a couple quick answers for you, but you really should get the book or ebook.

Protein bars generally are bad as they typically contain sugar alcohols (or real sugar). Keep in mind on the AD even sugar alcohols need to be avoided. Don’t ever ever ever fall for that “net carbs” bullshit.

Nuts, cheese, dried meat (not flavored) are all great snacks that are naturally low in carbs.

You days looks much less than 3000 cals- also with the “cheeseburger”- don’t tell me you ate the bun or put condiments on it. Ketchup is loaded with carbs.

You don’t count calories on the carb up. Just eat until you are full. Rinse and repeat for 24-36 hours.

Don’t do your first carb up for at least 14 days. Then every 6-7 days after that. Typically people carb up from Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon (at least I do).

Real quick aside- if you are 130lbs and 71 inches tall why the hell are you doing the AD? You need to just eat like there is no tomorrow. If you have a propensity to put on fat- try to simply just eat a shitload and only eats carbs around your workout window.

I’m not bashing the AD, I’m actually on it and love it, but you need to be less worried about how you eat and be more concerned with just eating.

I didn’t know you started. When did this happen?

It’s been about 10 1/2 weeks now. I’m going against the mold and starting with a full fledge cut for a while until I get where I need to be. So far so good. Damn good actually. I’m almost 25 lbs heavier than about 18 months ago but leaner than I was.

How’s it going for you?

I started it because I have had some health problems and my side has been hurting, but since I’ve gone to AD diet and stopped eating all them veggies and fiber, it actually feels better and I have less gas.

I read the book but want to make sure I do it correct. And about the 3000 calorie window, should I aim for 3000 or for 130 x 18? I am dropping cardio and just lifting for now.

Why are you not eating vegetables?

I do not digest them very well

Are protein shakes alright snacks for the AD? Easier to count cals with shake, two scoops 200 calories, and my 3 800 calorie meals. Easy way to get 3000 cals. Shakes have only 1g carb per scoop, so only 2g per shake. Is that to much protein and not enough fat? By the way, those are pretty much only carbs for the day as well.

I think it’s fine, but to increase the fat, you might want to put some extra virgin olive oil in there. With 14g of fat per serving and 120 cals, it’s a good way to get your healthy fats into your diet.

If you don’t like oil in your shakes, then you can take a serving separate from the shake.

Thank you sir. I was thinking about natural peanut butter as well. but I can take down oil if i gotta do it.

Yeah, same here. I like the taste of it plain, actually, but I usually just mix it in my shakes. You can’t even really taste it. Yeah, natty PB works great as well, especially with chocolate protein powder, and it gives you some extra protein as well.

Careful on the carbs in the PB though. Some have as high as 7g per tablespoon. That’s a lot.

As to vegetables- are you sure you don’t digest them well or have you just always eaten them in conjunction with other bad foods? I find it hard to believe that all vegetables are hard for you to digest. You can’t live on protein and fat alone.

Shit, I never ate them as a kid and I’m still alive. Barely, but still there. And you’ll notice none of the sample menus in the book contain veggies except for a salad on carb up day.

And you still don’t count the fiber in Peanut butter right? I got some with 6g carb but 4g fiber per 2 tbsp.

Well it’s not necessary to live I guess. There are just so many health benefits from vegetables you just can’t get elsewhere.

Correct. What brand do you use that only has 2g of actual countable carbs??? I want it.
