The one on youtube that I cant upload is way better. Hellicopter Hog Hunting (no music). Check it out. They are doing this because the wild hog population from a envading hog species is taking over. Destroying crops, livestock, just plain reproducing like crazy and fucking everything up. Even with these hunts they are not doing enough to stop the spread. There are a few strains. First are feral hogs which are nothing more than domesticated pigs that got loose. A feral hog is truly a wonder of the animal world in that it will leave the farm pink skinned with no hair and within weeks will go “feral” and grow hair, etc. Russian boar were imported to the country in our early existence and wild russian boar strains remain but mostly TN if I remember correctly. I think TX is mostly feral population but they could have russian boar and strains thereof. The feral hogs will also breed with pure strains creating crosses of feral/russian.
They breed like rabbits and have no predators, other than man. They are VERY smart - smarter than a dog. They can be ferocious and are very dangerous. Hunting wild boar is without a doubt the 2nd most dangerous game animal in N. America behind the Grizzly. Hunting them with dog and knife probably makes them more dangerous than a grizzly.
The meat is very lean. I don’t care for it. It tastes nothing like farm ham.
As for their smarts, like I said, they are very smart. If they’ve been hunted prior and survived, they learn to adapt. If they’ve been hunted by dogs before, they will break and run, stretch the pack and try to pick off dogs one at a time. These type of boar hogs are “dog killers”. They will avoid traps once exposed to them prior.
A wild hog is one bad animal. A worthy opponent and done with dogs, a very sporting hunt. You put a dog on hog, and there’s no guarantee your dog will come out of it alive. A bad ass hog will get his licks in. Most of us are literally versed in field surgery and can sew/staple our dogs up and run IV’s and anti-shock medication when necessary. I raised a dog almost literally from the dead a few years ago. The dog suffered so much blood loss we could not get a good vein for an IV. We literally had to make an incision in the dog’s neck to expose the carotid artery to run the IV thru there. Administered anti-shock meds and IV fluid and saved the dog’s life…brought him back from death’s doorstep. Had a friend years ago that literally had to place the dog’s guts back in the stomach cavity and sew him shut.
Contrary to perception, wild hogs are also very clean. You put a hog in a pen and he’ll shit and piss in the same general spot. You put a dog in a pen, and he’ll shit and piss all over the pen. They are generally very clean and do not smell. They also tame quickly when captive and will eat from your hand within days. They are very smart, and very adaptive.
As for me, I’m repulsed by the biological duality and dichotomy of a penis and boobs staring back at me. It’s disturbing to be honest.
