Hey, if you’re going to do that, I’m at 525.

I guess now’s as good a time as any to quit lurking around. I’m at 575. Going to try 600 at an upcoming meet.

Hit 545 on 2 different occasions in training. I’ve missed 565 twice in training. I’m going to pull 600 by the end of the year.

I’m in! Last October I pulled 600 for the first and only time at a meet. I also weighed 265. Today I weighed 225. Last week I maxed at only 525, to my extreme disappointment. At a July 4th Strongman meet last month I pulled 500x9! My strength is slowly evaporating as I lose weight. Yet I plan on continuing to drop weight (I want to compete as a 200lber next year and win the 2013 NAS 200lb National Championship).

So in a nutshell I want to pull 600 again, but at a bodyweight of 210 or less!
The deadlift is one lift where you can do that. George Hechter lost about a hundred pounds in the late 80s and pulled 800 yet. His deadlift was either lower at the higher weight , the same, or just a little higher.

That 545 isn’t a fair start for me. I’m over that now. Don’t want people to think I made a bigger jump than I have. My best is 570 two years ago . But it is my most recent heavy pull.

Like I said, when I hit 585, I’m going to weigh all the plates and post the accurate weight with and asterisk, haha!

In all seriousness, if you can weigh your plates do so. You’ll have a better picture if the meet you enter uses Ivanko or Eleiko competition sets. 45s often weigh 43-47 lbs. On a 585 that can make it as low as 561 or as high as 609. I take the pr at the weight on the bar, but it is good for reference sake.

Most of my plates weigh heavy, so I go with my projected lifts on a platform, but if they use a high end set, a five to ten pound bump is often in the cards.

One of my goals for the year is to pull 600.

In my last meet I pulled 575 at 181. I’ve given 585 a ride twice and couldn’t lock it out. My lockout is definitely holding me back right now. I’ve moved up a weight class and have been training at 210. I recently began pulling against chains and plan on using some bands in the near future.

My next meet is in almost 4 weeks and I plan on hitting 585 as a stepping stone to a meet in late October. That’s when I’ll get 6.
Get those bands, I think it’s the best best lockout exercise ever. My pr has gone up more on the bands than my deadlift. Or maybe it’s close come to think about it. But increased max against bands equals increased straight weigh deadlift. Always.

ive pulled just over 600 this time last year and im back shooting to get over it after 6 month of injury.

Im 320lbs and 4 weeks ago pulled 585

been pulling 500lbs for 8s from 15inch as my next comp is max reps from 15inch with 500lbs.

It also should help blast through my sticking point.

You’re a big strong guy! get some bands it will help that little hitch. I love the ole pull it in and rip it style. Always works better than the ole screw around forever.

I’m in, pulled 545 a couple weeks back and deadlifts have been going good, would love to see 600 by the end of september. Is there a deadline to get this by or is it a open ended race?

I’ve never missed a pull at lockout before, my weakness is about 3-4 inches off the ground about mid-shin. Besides deficit deadlifts what are the best supplemental/assistance exercises for increasing my starting strength?

I’m the opposite. I can pull a truck off the floor, but I have problems with the last about 2 inches… man is it frustrating.

Yup, I’m a member of the SLC (Shitty Lockout Club) too. Nothing more disheartening than having a big pull rocket up to the knees and then…nothing.

Open ended I will say. Just a thread to keep interest for guys with similar strength levels.

Deadlift against the bands, if it goes 5-6 " for me I have it. Nothing has helped me more than this exercise. I never miss high anymore. Now the weight is just to heavy.

Tom,
Have you used the conventional JS platform? I have it and when I pull against bands on it I feel wobbly, so I’ve gotten away from DLing against the bands. Since I don’t have the disposable coin for a sumo platform at the moment, you have any suggestions for alternative setups?

I use the jump stretch platform from the beginning, maybe you can put the lips of some 100s on the sides to help weigh it down? I can’t think of anything else, since I don’t know the size of it.

I could probably rig something up with some eye bolts or something or even use the short bands that Elite is selling these days and double them up under my rack. It sucks when a piece of equipment you buy (second hand, too) isn’t what you thought it would be.

When is someone going to make the 850 deadlift race thread?
I’m still working on 700… I’ll get back to you when I hit 800.

My sticking point is an inch or 2 under the kneecap. I ripped 675 off the ground and felt like I hit a brick wall.

on this note, i want to start pulling against bands but dont have a js platform to pull on. does anyone have any other ideas on how to set this up at a gym?

Did 385 against the doubled minis damn quick for a pr. The type of lift that makes you think should have tried 400. My band dl closely apps my regular deadlift minus two hundred.
