New on Arimidex!

Hi I’m a 55 year old male 5’8", 203 lbs. Had a bunch of tests done by my pcp. My total Testosterone was 180, free Testosterone low at 4.5, my total Estrogen was 158, and I was also told my DHEA was low.

I was put on Arimidex 1 mg. per day, and DHEA 50 mg. per day. My doctor said he would check my levels after 4 weeks and decide how to proceed. This is day 9 and I seem to have joint pain, but only in the joints that I normally have pain in because of arthritis, namely my hands, left hip.

Does this treatment sound like the doc is taking the right approach? I’m getting a little worried about the whole thing.

I should add that my testosterone was low as well 2 years ago after a battery of blood tests. At that time Estrogen as well as everything else was normal. I was put on androgel for a few months but had to discontinue because it caused frequent nightime urination.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks~!

The dose of ARIMIDEX is too high - the average dose for TRT is 1mg per week ( cut pill in half and take 2x per week ) this is an easy fix for you . That dose he gave was standard breast cancer treatment - not TRT . Your lucky he offered you ARIMIDEX ( most PCP don’t ) . I would try the lower dose for several weeks . Joint pain is a common cause of low Estrogen - men need some estrogen and yours has to be very very low now .

Yes, consider yourself lucky that you even got adex.

Personally i would go to .5mg EOD.

Do this on your own and dont tell your doc that you arent following his protocol … Just tell him “geez doc, your awesome, its great”

Toot his horn for him as this is what most docs want. if you argue with him that you need to switch the dosage, he may very well cancel the script all together.
