So, I haven’t bought one of THOSE magazines (starts with an F and ends with an X) in 9 years, but I saw a cover in the grocery store that said that Ben Weider had pronounced that there would be new judging standards and that protuding abdomens would be scored down significantly!
I’m not all excited or anything, but I may buy a post olympia report to see what happens this year.
Or maybe that’s what THEY want me to do.

I saw an analysis of pictures of his head over the last 12 years, and it has grown 5-6 inches bigger around.
Somehow I doubt there has been a corresponding increase in intelligence to go along with it?
For the sake of all involved they’ve got to back off the whole gamut of drugs. Are they ever going to be clean…No. Someone will always push the limit. The only way to keep them in check is to rework the judging so that it hits a competitor in a painful spot. Namely the wallet. Public disgust won’t work and neither will more drug laws. Money talks.
I’d love a return to the days of mass, symmetry, and a semblance of health. Maybe Weider sees all the attention that the pro sports are getting and is trying to avoid a major shakedown/embarrassment. Also, as places like T-Nation (and the old MM2K) have cropped up, the general populus is not as ignorant as before.
The only ones who believe that HMB makes the Olympia competitors 250-300lbs at 4% bodyfat with accompanying GH gut and acromegaly are 13-19 yr old boys and the woefully ignorant. Younger informed men (20-30) and experienced vets (40+) are all wise to the scheme. Weider is being hit in the only weakness he has…his financial empire.
I hope. I dreamed of attaining that look of the 60’s and 70’s guys and other guys should have the chance to see that again.

For Ronnie and the rest, I don’t think there’s anything they can do about it, offseason or not. The GH gut is permanent.
