New Nissan GT-R and GT-R Spec V

Just throwing this out there Its my favorite car and was wondering what other car junkies are around T-Nation?

Anyone seen the latest producting Nissan GT-R Its new to the states and canada for 2009! Its the latest generation of the previouse Tuner Dream Car the Nissan Skiline, Which was only offered in japan and costed a fortune to ship over here and when you did get it here you still had your steering weel on the oposite side! But now they make them in north america

This Car is just CRAZY its engine is hand made in a Hospital Grade Clean Room and everycar has parts that will only work with its specific engine and cant be swaped!

Anyways the cars got 480 brake horspower and almost 500lbs feet of torque it does 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and the best part…it only cost like 70G’s and it rostes Lambos andferary’s and spits them out for fun and these cars cost 3-4 times more Im just waiting for the Spec V that was anounced and will be available hopefully in canada and the US in 2010 its said to bost 530 horses with more torque and its a couple hundred pounds lighter…

Anyways just throwing that out there unfortunatly Im a University student and am a little shy of 70g’s I have to put up with the 08 accord coupe my folks bought me (pix in my profile) Hopefully I’l get my hands on one by 2010!

www.gtrnissan.com check it out

Yea dude, Top Gear just released a new episode with the GT-R vs. the Bullet Train; it’s an amusing episode.

It’s cool how every car’s specs are slighty different since they’re hand made with unique parts.

On paper, it’s great, but it just doesn’t look, feel, or sound like a supercar to me. The engine may make 500 hp, but it’s still a V6.

Ah, marketing hype

I sure hope that’s not the case. How in the world are you supposed to get replacement parts if something should break?

Don’t get me wrong, I think the car is awesome. It’s just that I’ve been an auto tech and have a pretty good idea how cars work. This marketing crap drives me nuts.

Yah I hear ya man it wont give you that driving experience of a carrera or an aust r8 but it is a sick fast automobile!

Well if the parts break you have to get it from the dealer! but they keep a record of the car serial number I beleive but if something big like the transmition goes than the car has to be sent away!

I like how it’s a “Supercar for everyone”. yeah, because that’s just what everyone needs.

Sounds too good to be true to me. The motor sounds pretty trick, the chassis has got to suck. Americans only care about going fast in straight lines and circles anyway.

It’s not like you’d be putting aftermarket parts on it anyways.

Only if you’re a teenager.

If these cars really are handbuilt (which I don’t believe if the car is only going for $70k), then it’s very NOT cool. Give me a mass produced car, so when something breaks it can actually be fixed in less than a week.

yah really tho! its numbers 0-60 and quater mile arent even where the car shines its the cornering and the steering its absolutly nuts the cars makes a 911 turbo or a 911 gt3 look slugish around turn’s and those cars are know for there drivability and great handeling (they are very fast in there own right)

It’s going to actually cost you a lot more than $70k because of scarcity, just like the new M3. If I had a GT-R and it broke, I would not trust a random mechanic to work on it and would take it to Nissan anyways.

I saw one on the roads the other day, I think it’s pretty damn sweet.

The Engines are handbuild as well as the transmition! Not every piece! But I do know what your getting at. My dad has a 06 bmw 650i and it took him like 3 weeks to get parts for the retractor motor when it broke. They came from germany so I can only imagine the lenght of time it would take to repair it if something happense but youd think theyd take that into consideration…

Thats true they say to get one in canada your looking @ almost 105K so it is getting up there with other super cars at that price! And its almost a shame to have one if your not taking it out on the track everyonce in a while. Thats what it wsa designed for.

Artem have you seen any videos on the Spec-v version?

Ok, after reading about it more, it’s pretty obvious the car isn’t handbuilt. The engine is assembled by hand (big difference), so OEM parts won’t be an issue, which is good.

Now I know what car to get when I hit the Mega Millions. It’s only a matter of time.

Nope, how’s it different? Got any videos?

No I cant find any but I read about it in a magazine a chapters last night I think it was “road and Track” Anyway’s from what I read they keep everything basically the same bump horsepower to 530 and torque to 520 the car’s weight drops by around 180lbs through the use of carbon fiber Its sposed to go on sale in jepan in december…

Actually just for clarification the car is FAST in a strait line theres 4 cars I can think of that are faster and thats it Ferrari enzo, Bugati Veyron, Pugatti Zonda and I forget the last one but the thing is that its fastest through corners than all those cars and otheres so Its really not to good to be true! They say that this car is the standard at which all cars will be measured! And one last thing to keep in mind is that all those cars I just mentioned are well over a million dollars!

The last car I forgot was a masserati mc12 which was converted from a RACE CAR to a street car

It did outrun a Porsche 911 Turbo on a road course in California, mostly because the AWD and traction control make driving it more idiot resistant. Lord knows the drivers here need all the help they can get.

^^^Thats true I mean theres a Lexus available now the LS600h L That will park itself I mean we are not that dumb are we that we need the car to park for us…well this technology could do some good for the driver who’s had a few to many beers…

I will say that technology may pay for itself if someone doesn’t know how to parallel park and constantly chews up rims.
