Currently, rap today and modern rock is shit. Anything on the radio or on any of the music channels is usually shit. To find the good stuff you either have to listen to the older music or make your way through the seedy underground of stuckup music snobs.
As far as Rap I listen to:
NWA, Jay Z, Kanye, Busta Rhymes, Outkast, Nas, Lupe Fiasco, Ludacris, Tupac, B.I.G, Gorilla Black, Snoop, The Clips hmm…sounds aboot right.
A good album is the Grey Album by DJ Danger Mouse. Mixes Jay Z’s Black Album with the Beatles White Album. Can’t buy it…you’ll have to download it because he ultimately didn’t have the rights to do it. For that check thepiratebay.org
Rock:
Obviously any classic rock like Led Zeppelin, The Who, Rolling Stones, Queen, Leaf Hound, The Doors, Jimmy Hendrix, AC/DC, ZZ Top, Van Halen, etc…
Newer bands that I like are The Strokes, Jet, Wolfmother, The Darkness, and The Black Keys.
The Black keys are a mix of blues and rock…very good and not mainstream.
I usually put Led Zeppelin - “When the Levee Breaks” on repeat for a bit while I workout.

I’d also download all of the droughts and the carters.
I tend to listen to In Flames’ Colony album, Avenged Sevenfold’s Waking the Fallen, and Protest the Hero’s Kezia and Fortress during workouts.
Authority Zero has some pretty chill songs.

“Lollipop” Remix - Kanye & Wayne
“Put On” - Jeezy & Kanye

I also work out to John Scofield, particularly the album ‘A GoGo’, which has Martin, Medeski, & Wood as his backing band. Speaking of which, the MMW album ‘Combusitication’ is great to work out to as well.
Here’s Sco and MMW playing a song from ‘A GoGo’.

I don’t know how the hell you lift to that. But I really like the album “Solar” that Scofield did with John Abercrombie. It’s not what you’d expect from him, but it’s good.

Definitely listen to Authority Zero for a bit of surf/skate punk with ska.

Why, should I not be listening to Avenged or In Flames?
Regarding Authority Zero, their albums Passage in Time and 1234 are their better ones, but Andiamo has a sweet Mexican Radio cover.

Well it depends on the kind of music you like. I’ve loved Avenged’s last 3 albums for different reasons with the main reason being that I like rock/metal that’s catchy and doesn’t take itself too seriously. I absolutely can’t listen to death metal and its ilk for that reason. As far as Authority Zero goes, they just satisfy a different taste as I dig their surf/ska stuff.
I’ll definitely give those songs you posted a listen though. My bud swears by A Wilhelm Scream, but I remember hearing them a while back and not really digging 'em. I’ll give it another shot though.
Come on, nobody has mentioned the 10,000 Days album by TOOL?
In particular: Vicarious, Jambi (will amp you like nothing else), The Pot
Check it out, X. I want to know how that works out for you.

I’ve heard of them but don’t know any of their songs.[/quote]
Sex Pistols only had the one album “Never mind the Bullocks…” Pretty solid listen. Megadeth made good covers of “Anarchy in the UK”, and “Problems”. The Motely Crue version of “Anarchy” is ok too. There’s also a Velvet Revolver cover of “Bodies” floating around somewhere.
Lynam’s album “Slave to the Machine” is pretty awesome. Has a nice retro feel kicking back to some of the good 80’s rock. Think Def Leppard and G’n’R.
