Hip Hop Only

I know there are tons of music threads and there was one I remember about rap only, but I wanted to make this thread to broaden my listening and to inform what new shit is out what to listen to and what sucks. The stuff doesn’t have to be brand new it can be 10 years old just post up the stuff you love listening to and we can get a good collection going.

I’ll start it off.

lol wut

Glad to see this isnt a thread of lafy-tafy and superman…CHRIST that shit is SO fucking gay!!

All you need now-a-days to make “hip-hop” is

  1. 5 or more ppl
  2. To be from an “island”
  3. a voice synthesizer

The only things i lessen to anymore is Wu-Tang (and their various solo jobs), Tu Pac, Jay-Z, Nas and other older numbers. For me “Rap/hip-hop” died years ago.

umm what? to be from an island? and what does the last thing mean?

wu-syndicate - where was heaven?

almost as good as ghostface - all i got is you

Akon, that fat kid, I dont know what his name is, Pitt Bull. All come from Islands and they all make my ears hurt. And you dont know what a voice synthesizer is? Snoop used one in that song with Akon, they are in everything it seams like.

But the point I was trying to make is you dont need to be able to do anything to make “hip-hop” now. You dont have to be able to read or play music, write lyrics make a beet. Its all in who you know b/c some one will do it for you as long as you sound “good”.

I might be being a little hard but thats just how I feel, guess im getting old. All these young wipper-snappers with that damn loud noise.

i can quote masta killer perfectly here

“Light is provided through sparks of energy
from the mind that travels in rhyme form
Givin sight to the blind
The dumb are mostly intrigued by the drum
Death only one can save self from
This relentless attack of the track spares none”

from triumph, too be honest i havent heard much of anything from pitbull, and akon does make some decent tracks i.e locked up ft styles p

if you feel this way, i think its YOU that has the problem…there is plenty of great HIP-HOP still being made, if you want check out these groups, if you want me to recommend albums and songs just pm me but

kids under the stairs
the cool kidz
kids in the hall

i’m pretty sure i can continue naming names but i cant be bothered, the only problem i have currently is the lack of air play real artist making great music get. There is a lack of balance between party rap which i enjoy thoroughly and more natural hip hop

btw if you didnt enjoy watching drunk girls falling over themselves in clubs trying to crank that hoe, you might aswell hand in your man card

That’s always funny, but if you’re referring to the souljah boy song, you can hand in YOUR man card.
