inflames used to be the best band in the world, imo
I actually really enjoy a lot of their “post sellout” stuff, Soundtrack to your Escape and Come Clarity aren’t nearly as bad as most metal fans make them out to be, different =/= awful. My Sweet Shadow is actually my dedicated PR breaking song, has the build up and everything.
Edit: With that said I’d still take Colony or Clayman over any of their others, and that’s pretty much the exact middle ground from their old->new.
I agree, some of their newer stuff is definitely listenable. But, they went from every song being AMAZING to having one or two good songs per album. When I think of good newer songs the quiet place stands out, and even a few from come clarity such as dead end. Although, I really really hate their new album. Everything except for the drumming is complete garbage, really. I hate ander’s vocals and honestly when he used to make songs, he completly ruins them now. I could sort of get into a riff or two on the new album, but then anders would start whining again and they would slip back to mediocrity.
My favorite album from them is probably The Jester Race, followed by Whoracle then colony/subterranean/clayman all tied.

I liked the song by dissection and anorexia nervosa is a pretty good band from what I remember. Thanks for the reminder.
Equilibrium has some really great musicians in it.
Widars hallen
Der strum (great song)
Unter der Eiche
not really “new” since they came out last year, but i’m still playing lupe fiasco’s “the cool” and kanye west’s “graduation” almost every day. i like lil’ wayne’s “da drought 3” mixtape a lot, i’ve played those over and over and over. awesome work by him on that.
avenged sevenfold’s newest album (self-titled) isn’t the best, but it’s not awful. there’s some tracks i really like on there. what kind of rock do you listen to?
Arsis
A newer melodic death metal band, their technical skills are pretty good. They just came out with a new album, some of the songs from that are on their myspace. Off that page I sugest “face of my innocence”, “we are the nightmare”, “servants to the night”
Endeverafter.
Absence.
3 Inches of Blood
Airbourne
Fueled by Fire
Krisiun
Agathodaimon
These are the coolest bands I’ve heard lately.
This thread prompted me to look for more bands and I found this one. They are FUCKING brilliant.
Illnath: Cast into the fields of evil pleasure
ILLNATH - Feathers Shall Fall

The Roots - I can’t help it
They have to be one of the few groups out putting out music that sounds different than what we hear all of the time.
Their recorded stuff is terrible compared to how they are live. And I love their recorded stuff. That’s how good they are live.
since people are bringin up british rappers i gotta throw out sway…at least i know what this dude is saying lol
^ up your speed (og)

If you like that song, you might also like “Superstar.” I usually save it for my last or heaviest set.
