New Muscle Pump Coaching

Keep doing reps as long as the rep quality is good. You want to balance intensity equally with form.

So go ahead and do 12 or 13, and increase the weight next time.

Thanks I’ll do that

I’ve been pretty lucky getting the equipment for every Block. What is I couldn’t do that in any reasonable time between Blocks?

Is the order of the Blocks in any Workout significantly important. Example: Today I was doing Workout #4. What if I could get the equipment to do the Lat Block, because the equipment to do the Triceps Block was being used? Is doing Triceps before Lats significantly important to wait for it to open? When is a wait too long to move from one Block to another Block?

Couldn’t find it.

In the Coaching Lab there is “pad lock” pic that precedes “Surge Challenge”

In that situation, you could move to the Lat block and do it before the Triceps block.

I’ll be honest, i assumed the 40s Hang was something entirely different and I enjoyed it a lot…

I performed my hang as the top part of a hang clean where i just kept the bar from touching my shoulders (it does this automatically). To be fair, I’m not sure i would have felt much from a BW Hang from bar anyways… still, i enjoyed my “clean hold” prior to Shoulder Pressing.

@Ellington_Darden might I suggest this as an exercise swap for others who didn’t feel the 40s Hang as intended?
As a former DC and Fortitude trainee, extreme holds were a much appreciated recovery and growth tool. This tool feels like it would be right at home with this challenge/program. I believe the benefits of such pump-oriented training would be very well complimented with Blood Flow Resriction tools (techniques or BFR devices).

Monday’s #4 workout was another good one. Gulped down the first Surge dose in less than a minute, no adverse effects, just wasn’t used to drinking that much liquid that quickly. Same weights on triceps exercises, but unlike last week, I am sore the next day. Another good lat session, with the same weights, but I did swap the bb bent row for seated high row. Increased weight on all 3 wrist curl exercises, and made the reps with a much better pump. Calves pump was much better without losing time transitioning to seated heel raise and pointed toes leg curls. Instead I substituted 1/3’s mid range and top range (20 secs. each) heel raises in the pump phase.

Dr Darden or Tim,

What results would you expect from someone doing this challenge with say just one dose of Surge either before or during? I’m thinking of when I run this program again in the future of cutting down on Surge to help with the cost.

Thank you to Tim and Ellington for the program and the Surge, much appreciated. I am readying myself for workout # 5 this evening. Thus far the triceps, lats, biceps, and thigh workouts have produced the most soreness. I had no soreness from the shoulder or chest workouts and the only thing the leg workout produced was a lot of soreness in my knee joints, which I suppose is to be expected given my age. Is this training mode meant to be permanent or is it a specialty routine to be completed once every few months?

Halfway done today. I don’t know if I am gaining size or not, but I feel bigger. Pics as per challenge guidelines in my log

Done with workout 8 out of the 12. Posted pics on my log.

What is the rationale for sipping Surge on the non workout days?

It keeps your muscles and other bodily systems well hydrated.

Just finished Workout #8. Simply brutal, but again, I absolutely loved it. It pushed me hard, and that’s what I love in a workout. I actually recorded the squat section for anyone that’s been interested in seeing that. That’s truly a Circuit that features “Outright Hard Work” and to me, there’s nothing better at stimulating growth than that.

It supports increased protein synthesis, muscle function, blood flow, and hydration and continues loading beta-alanine.

That’s awesome. Props to them for taking such a personal interest in this challenge to the extent of reaching out to individuals, and also props to you for providing details of your training and experience that prompted them to do so. Despite different preferences in training coming into this challenge, it does seem that everyone agrees that Surge is a highly effective product and clearly the program provided by Ellington Darden gives impressive results.

About to order more for post challenge.

Starting to notice a dramatic increase in vascularity, even on off days, which is noteworthy because I am not that lean (started this protocol coming out of a bulk phase). Wife said my veiny shins were “gross”, which I take as a compliment, of course.
