The Rock has a football movie coming out sometime in the middle of this month. Looks pretty good, I’ll probably watch that and this movie. I don’t see anything wrong with the rock, I think he’s a pretty awesome guy.
At least none of you were forced into going to the movie theatre to spend 8 bucks on…sigh…john tucker must die…with girls
My issues is how he turned his back on what made him wrestling I saw an interview awhile back and he wouldn’t even talk about hios wrestling career, he even made a comment about playing football longer and I feel that was wrong so I hope he continues to make shitty movies like DOOM and dies a horrible box office death

One more bad movie and we probably won’t be hearing from him much at all. He is the Incredible Shrinking Actor.

Nope. They’re serious. Welcome to T-Nation, where you can’t be masculine without beating up some fags [according to many, though not all, of the people here]. Just look at how often talk of bodybuilding contests is made purely in terms of the swimsuits they wear.
A lot of people here really think that if you’re against killing and political oppression you’re not properly masculine, which they depict as being homosexual. Hence the Titanic and pink bag “humor.”
And for the record, I like action movies. I loved V for Vendetta. But I don’t need to get militaristic/nationalistic propaganda shoved down my throat at the same time.

I’ll also add that I think CGI has led to a decline in the genre. Film makers have become way too reliant on it in general. Rather than using it as frosting on the cake of real explosions and creative model work, it’s instead being used for the whole damn thing. Like the cake made entirely of frosting, it’s a whole lot less satisfying. Assuming you like cake in the first place.[/quote]
Good point. This is actually why I kinda liked The Fast and the Furious. Braindead movie, but those were real cars, not computer models. Much more interesting to watch.

If we can forget the CGI part where the Viper goes light speed, yeah.

That’s the first time I’ve seen a Camaro(looks like a Camaro) as a patrol car, I wouldn’t think it was necessary, the town looked kinda small. Just wondering if anyone knows districts that use Camaros? Around San Diego I’ve seen Mustangs and Expeditions.

The small town in TX I used to work for had one. TX DPS used them. My chief had a DPS fetish so it’s prolly no coinccidence.
Movies like this can be Hellafied fun, but sometimes they take the insults to our intelligence a bit too far. The Transporter 2 comes to mind here, as does Ultraviolet.

How dare you put Transporter 2 on the same level as the manifestation of pure grade A bullshit that was UltraViolet?
The Transporter was completely UNbelieveable…but after we understood it was not grounded in reality at all, it was cool to watch overly choreographed dance…fighting moves and gratuitous explosions. UltraViolet was like watching the acid trip of a Star Trek geek after they finished a Matrix marathon and a gram of crystal meth. People simply got up and left the movie theater.

The pink bag actually came from a member who used it as his avater, and had a different political viewpoint than her own. But to answer shaved’s question: Yes, the bitch is just that dumb.

My bad, I should have been more clear. Can’t do m’boy Statham that way. I don’t consider them to be on the same level, only that they both took things too far. I can’t believe I finished Ultraviolet. At least it wasn’t my money that rented it.
i remember a time when action movies didn’t need a plot. i remember a time when the hero didn’t need to act BECAUSE he WAS the hero. I remember a time when people argued who was the tuffest action hero…
i remember a time where it was inconceivable that someone would rant about conspiracy in a thread about a movie…
it seems that people everywhere are getting too serious about life… yes there are things happening that we dont’ know about, and yes it may not be the best of states for the world to be in and yes we should think about it… each and everyone of us in their own on way… but do we need to have it shoved down our throats…
ssn0 how much time do you believe people are going to devote to thinking about what it is that you are preaching? let me tell you… sweet fuck all less than what they would have if you didn’t say a damn word. like everything in life… use intelligent discretion in ascerting proper dissemination of what it is that YOU believe is important within a forum that may be receptive to your belief system, otherwise you are just masturbating with a keyboard (think about it…and maybe someone else will too)
agreed people… i’m not usually prone to such movies but must say long overdue.
commando, action jackson, rambo I and II (BUT I DIDN’T DO ANYTHING!!) Conan, Deathwish, Predator. bring it back!!

As for the Rock’s size, he wasn’t really that big as a wrestler. I never had the chance to see him, but a few friends saw him at a bar after a wrestling event and they said he didn’t look big at all. He had an “athletic” physique and was surprisingly not thick at all (in street cloths).
They also said he was very friendly and no attitude.
Even if he’s smaller, I’d still rather see his than Toby McRibs.
As for Cena, I hope he can act. Cena seems to have personality so that may help him.

Since when are Marines super-badass commando one man strike teams? Thousands of marines have already been killed in iraq, I doubt it would be hard to kill one more back home.

I don’t know one way to respond so here are two.
You are an idiot, and a douchebag.
(taking your post somewhat seriously) I believe the main character is supposed to be a member of some ultra-elite unit. Thus he might be more prepared to be a one man strike force (similiar to Rambo).

Many members of The marine Recon unit, Force and Batt, have already been killed in iraq, same with Det-1.
Mind you, iraqi’s are killing them with home-made weapons and bombs. A .45 to Jon Cena’s chest WOULD put him down, “ultra-elite unit” or not.
