New Hampshire Training

I’m really big on mobility and foam rolling. It’s a required part of my lifting days… I figure if I don’t have time for mobility and stretching I don’t have time to lift. I started doing it for rehab, now it’s prehab. Yoga did very little for me, but I can see the value.
This looks like the making of a long, healthy lifting career. Smart training Sir.

2/14
15’’ box squat 135x3,225x3,275x3,315x3,365x3,405x3,455x3,495x1
1’’ deficit trap bar deads 315x5x10 reps

With stretching every day and box squats my hips and inner thighs feel like jelly. I tried a P90X cardio workout on Saturday. Not pretty. Daddy needs to get back outside and sprint the hill.

in three feet of snow…

good job big daddy!

nice work Eco- how do you like the trap bar…
what pete said is true- you can run out of room on the bar very quickly-

I use it for some additional work after front squats, and to give my neck/traps a break with being loaded on.

George, after yesterdays 48 degrees there isn’t 3 feet of snow in the yard anymore. More like 2 feet now. Can’t wait for it to all be gone. I’ve got a lot of outdoor workouts I want to try. My wife and oldest son have both asked me to set up some outdoor activities for them this spring.

Kevin,I’m using the trap bar with assistance exercises. Unless I get hurt or something changes I don’t plan on using it for money exercises.

i am going to build some farmers walk handles and jerk boxes. you can jump on the jerk boxes. Luckily, we don’t have any snow in the valley anymore, thanks to a week above 45. hoping to push the car later this week.

Winter always tricks us this time of year. within the next 2 weeks it will be back to 0° and snowing.

I’m missing my outdoor work too. The track I run up from my field has been made muddy from all the snow and rain. Can’t wait for some dry weather.

And great squatting. 495 is HUGE!!!

Brett,I hear you. I cant wait to get back outside.

2/16
1a.bench 135x3,225x3,275x3,315x3,365x1,390x1
1b.chin ups

There was no hockey practice tonight so my wife wanted ‘family time’. That didn’t include lifting. 15-20 minutes and I was done.

…they just don’t understand…

2/17
1a.chins/pullups 3 sets
1b.pushups 3 sets
2a.fat db shld press 3 sets
2b.trap bar shrugs 3 sets

Just a few sets to make up for the short workout the night before.

Good looking rotation there, and I love the new thread title.

^^ What Joe says…

Brett, you’re right about the chins and semi sumo. I’ve pulled 550 a few times. But only once in competiton a year or two ago. I think I can still pull at least 500.

Just got back from Syracuse. My son and I had a great time. The team lost every game but he did well and hung out will all his teammates in the pool and playing knee hockey. I hung out with the parents and drank Jim Beam and diet gingerale.
I swear, regardless of the how the tournament goes, my son and his teammates have so much fun in the pool and playing knee hockey, it doesn’t matter if they win or lose.
Exactly. With a good groups of kids, parents and coaches it doesn’t matter if you win or lose. Everyone has a good time.
Don’t know it you play NH teams but my youngest is on the Avalanche and my oldest the Monarchs.
We’ve played both over the years, my son played for the Junior Warriors.

What team your boy on now? I have a first year squirt at the avalanche and a first year peewee at the monarchs. Be cool if we played each other at some point. Give me someone to cheer for on the opposing team.

I like your training, it is so straight forward, creative, and effective. I also admire your commitment to your kids sports endeavors.

I told you this is WARRRRRR!!!

My son is a couple of years older. He’s playing high school now - he’s only in the 8th grade, but he made the JV team at his school. He also played up for the town midget team, since it’s only a half-season.

You know how to hurt a guy. I give up. You win. Thanks.

ManfromMass, both my boys do very well but aren’t good enough to play up like your boy. Your son must be crazy good.

KP,most people just don’t get it. But we do.

MJ,KP’s husband may have something to say about the marrying thing.

Cracked open a Jim Beam bottle tonight. I think the carbonation in the soda is making me dizzy.
