New Guy, Getting Motivated

Hey everyone. Not sure this is the proper section to put this post in, but here goes. I am hoping to find some help and motivation to finally stop my “yo-yo” cycle of “Get in good shape then fall off the wagon, and then work twice as hard to get in the same shape as I was before…”.

I have been in GOOD shape before, but never have I seen my abs or been proud of my body. This will change this time around. I am WHOLLY DEDICATED to this quest, and hope some of you great people in this forum can help me with some motivation, encouragement and words of wisdom…

My long term goal is to have a fitness model physique (I don’t want to get super huge, just nicely proportioned), and to compete for the opportunity to be in the South Florida FireFighters Calendar (which benefits burned children).

I plan to complete this mission on or before my 44th birthday, at the end of March 2009.

Stats: 6’1, 228 Pounds, around 21% Body fat (ouch), 36" waist, and NOT HAPPY with the way I look or how far I have let myself slip out of shape. I am preparing to start the Velocity diet in two weeks, and hopefully that will give me a nice “jump start” into my new, healthy and strong lifestyle.

Thanks in advance for anything anyone can do to help.

What is the Velocity diet? It is a fantastic journey to reaching your goals my friend. Make sure consistancy, dedication and desire are always there. In a short amount of time you will see the results and love them. I was 240lbs at 40+% BF, it took a long time ( 2 years ) to get to where i am now and i am not even half way to where i wanna be. Good luck my friend!

you need to read Chris Shugart’s Phoenix article.

its basically everything id say to help you out without actually typing it lol

but trying to get on a calendar is a good way to stayt mogtivated
good luck to you

Hey congrats, T-Nation is the shit. Make sue your seriuos tho aloooot of people ere hate those who say their seriuos and quit

You’re “WHOLLY” DEDICATED yet you need other people to motivate you?
I’m sorry but I am simply not convinced.

Maybe you should just accept the fact that you aren’t a victim of yo-yo diet and training. You are just a yo-yo.

Prove me wrong. How’s that for motivation.

Asking others for motivation will do nothing for you if you don’t have the self discipline to stick to what you need to do to improve.

Very true. Sounds mean but it is FACT.

Well, to those of you who offered some encouragement, thanks.

For the others, thanks for talking time to respond. Just so you know, insults and negatives are not really “motivation” for anyone.

I wish I was perfect, but I’m not.

So to those perfect people who must have perfect muscle development, perfect nutrition, and single digit bodyfat all the time, and who need no motivation, support or encouragement to attain this… I salute you. Consider yourselves blessed.

The rest of us really do need some help from others, and I thought this would be the proper place to try to get it. I guess I was wrong.

Thanks for the responses anyway, and I will achieve my goals beacuse people can change, an I am making a positive change in my life.

Thanks for reading… no responses necessary, as I’ll just be bowing out of this forum so as not to attract any more negativism.

My god. No one was negative to this guy.
People only told him the truth.

some people are more sensative i suppose.
