I have a weird problem that i suppose nobody else has.
When i do regular elbows out dumbbell chest presses, next day my left pec is always more sore than right. i filmed myself from every possible angle and my form is really good. slow controlled negative, good stretch etc.
when i couldnt solve this problem, i switched to neutral grip elbows close to body dumbbell chest presses and no more uneven soreness.
but now my problem is im not sure if this elbow position hits the chest as much as elbows out grip.
any opinions would be great since most of you are quite experienced lifters.
I’ve had this discussion before with some very knowledgeable people (and I don’t mean gymrats), as due to my shoulder surgery, I can no longer do certain presses with my elbows out.
What I was repeatedly told, was that the recruitment of the chest muscle fibers is the same, if not more with a neutral grip. Despite the old “elbows flared for chest, elbows tucked for triceps” advice that we all heard and repeated over and over again in the gym, all flaring your elbows does it bring shoulders into the mix to a greater degree. For people with shoulder issues, or trouble just isolating your pecs, this is a good thing to understand.

actually that was the answer i was waiting for.
even though you are sure you are doing something right, you want an approval from people who are more experienced than you.
actually you feel a doubt when you dont see a pro bodybuilder do it. you feel like if they dont do it, its wrong.
