Neurotype Connected to Anxiety from Making Choices?

Hey CT,

Have you noticed if getting anxious from making choices,( e.g. which training program/diet you follow), more common for any of the neurotypes?

For example, second guessing everything, easily getting excited over new things like templates/diets, diving in easily but getting anxious from overthinking it, and possibly quitting before even giving it an honest shot?

Often due to overthinkinking leading to too much google-use…etc.

Very interesting things, thanks!

That specific case is VERY type 2A… heck I’m still like that myself. It’s not so much anxiety related though. But rather that Type 2A need to find something exciting to be motivated, that’s why they need a lot of change. They also have a lower level of self-esteem (yes, including myself) and lack confidence, which makes it a lot more likely for them to always second guess themselves. 2A in general hate having to make decisions.

Thanks!
Reinforcea my suspicion then quite a bit, I find myself to be 2A dominant with a few traits from 2B and maybe 1, but NOT confidence…
Good stuff!

Also, not sure if it is neurotype specific, but looking back, after a few weeks on the same program/template I have noticed a pattern in that even ONE bad workout can lead to a total loss of interest, especially if it happens to be on a day when I feel great going to the gym.

Makes it, relatively speaking, impossible to get motivated again with the same template.

That can come from an accumulation of glutamate either because you ingest a lot of it from your diet (MSG is used as a food additive quite often, including by fast food chains and “commercial coffee” chains) to enhance the pleasure response; or because your body is inefficient at converting glutamate to GABA

Can be type 2A (when a program stops being interesting, motivation goes away) or 2B (when they don’t get a good feeling from a session they don’t want to do it anymore).

Extremely interresting!
Thank you.

No hijack intended but I found it interesting to correlate “commercial coffee” chains – I would imagine Starbucks and Tim Hortons would fit –with an accumulation of glutamate.

I know for certain that Tim Horton’s add it. I haven’t checked Starbucks yet.

EDIT: Seems like they do. From a business standpoint it makes sense since glutamate is an emotion/sensation amplifier. Put it in something you like and the pleasure response will be a lot higher and addictive.

Is it possible that a type 2, when they change all the program that they are doing, by something really different, they start to feel more stress and anxious, cortisole increase and testosterone get down for 1 week 1.5week. The time the body ajust for the workout ! Every time i change my program i get this mini crash

2A not likely, 2Bs, very likely. A 2B, a lot like a 3 does better sticking to the same exercises for longer, normally changing training methods and loading schemes more often. And when changing exercises I recommend not changing everything at the same time.

Having a negative response to variation comes from anxiety/insecurity and 2Bs/3s are the most prone to that. A 2B will be more likely to that if their glutamate to GABA conversion is inefficient because their will be more emotional because of glutamate excess and the lower GABA increases anxiety

Yes that’s what i do, i try to stick with the same exercises longer. But after few weeks, i feel like i need to do something new , something different that’s why i like to change thing, but when i changed them i hate the crash that it gives me.

And in long term, i don’t know if this crash can affect my body composition more than sticking with the same exercises and always feel good ?

Funny thing about this is, that, personally I was afraid to change anything too soon, because you know, “no gains” unless you stick to same program atleast 6 weeks or more…

Thats probably why 5/3/1 OG worked alright for me, 3 weeks+deload & then another assistance template. I never could get 6 week cycles (two cycles back to back) really to work for me, at week 4 - 5 I gpt depressed cause I felt I failed for not being motivated enough…
This stuff really is revolutionary, thanks again Thibs.
