Negative Effects of Weight Gainers

i recently tried a couple of commercial weight gainers and they made me feel pretty crappy. they made me extremely lethargic and overall awful. is this normal?

Lots of sugars in those ‘weight gainer’ products. You likely were feeling an insulin spike and subsequent crash. Use a regular quality protein powder like Metabolic Drive and add good calories instead of simple sugars like in those products.

Take care,

Most weight gainers contain alot of fillers. Stuff like Maltodextrin is listed as being a “complex carb” but its really not. They may have messed with your insulin in a way that made you crash over and over again while you used it.

If you use Metabolic Drive or any other protein powder, you can just add some oatmeal to it if you’re trying to bulk up for added calories. Low glycemic fruits would be an even better option if you have access to a blender. A spoon of almond butter, anything you can think of to add some clean calories would probably be better than most commercially available weight gainers.

Which gainers are you referring to BigB51?

i see. thanks guys

i used Iso Mass by Ultimate Nutrition and GNC made weight weight gainer. both were low in sugar so i thought i was safe…guess not. ha

The negative effect from the GNC weight gainer is fat gain and explosive shits.

Neither of GNC’s gainers are even remotely close to being low sugar. Their 2200 gainer has 131g sugar per serving for the Vanilla flavor!!

the only halfway decent gainer i have tried is cytogainer. the gnc gainers are loaded with carbs and sugar

Optimum’s looks relatively non-terrible as well.

Why not use something high quality like Metabolic Drive Complete mixed in whole milk with added fruit and PB?

You can’t go wrong this way.

i plan on tryin some sooner or later to see what the hooplah is all about but the only thing that has turned me away is the price. im a loyal fan of HRX but we’ll see about the Metabolic Drive. my problem is i dont like to wait for things to come through shippin when i could just go out to the store and get it right away.
