Listen to Heavythrower. The only thing I might add is weighted chins/pull-ups. Then againk, looking at heavythrower’s back… it might not be neccessary.
Eat Massive Eating style, lift big compound movements 3x a week and Keep It Super Simple. When you get bored and want to change stuff around–you’re probably doing it right. As long as your lifts continue to progress from week to week or month to month, you’re golden. As Mike Mahler said this weekend: “Weight training should not be a calculus problem.”
I vote for Heavythrowers’ idea - I’ve been training for 13 years, and I still want to try his program.
Is it possible that despite all attempts at sounding knowledgeable and edjumacated, young Neil is actually a stereotypical 18-year-old, the majority of whose routines would read:
Day One: CHEST
Day Two: BICEPS
Day Three: See day one
It’s the “beach muscles” routine, popular in every gym, in every country of the world - mainly during school holidays.

NeilG, you think a lot. That much is obvious. I, for one, don’t question your effort or commitment, but I do question some decisions that you’ve made and some of your thinking. But that’s why I’m not you and you’re not me, and that’s okay.
I understand your desire for a bigger chest and bis/arms. From your pictures, it seemed as if your back was a bit more developed than your chest & arms, and that’s okay. We all have things that come easier for us than others.
I think, however, that there are easier ways to reach your goals. You’re in a pretty good situation. Some guys at your age can’t put muscle on to save their lives. You seem to be able to put on some mass relatively easily. There are several programs here on T-mag that could work for you. I would suggest Westside, but I don’t know if I want you on those threads. Just playing with you, Neil. I actually think something like Joel Marion’s recent hypertrophy program would be good.
Just bring up your poundages in the important lifts and eat enough. You’ll be fine.

Leave the Mag-10 on the shelf, you don’t need it. I promise. Reach your limits without Mag-10 then grow from there. Yes it will take longer, but you’ll be happier if you do.

Ok, I didn’t say anything like that on this thread. I only talked through PMs, so no, you guys didn’t see that I was listening. I can see how that would look like I wasn’t listening, but the point was that you don’t know what was said through PMs.
BUT, so everyone knows, I’ll say some things here.
I do appreciate any positive input, and I have taken things into consideration. I’m looking at heavythrower’s plan right here. I haven’t decided yet what to do, but it’s being considered. As to the Mag-10, I’m sorry to say that I will be using it despite the recommendations not to. I understand the reasoning 100%. Heck, I had to think about it for a while just because it is what it is. Despite what you guys might think, I am concerned with health, and taking something like Mag-10 was a big concern with me. I’m not wild about protein powders, let alone something as potent as Mag-10. I took a look at my priorities and thought about it for a while, and considering the timing of certain things, and other considerations, I decided that I would use Mag-10. I appreciate the concern over using it, though. It lets me know that I’m not TOTALLY hated.
I appreciate the help. And I’m being totally honest when I say that.
