I am trying to get into the Air Force as an officer(lawyer)in my country’s Armed Forces. I am not going to say which country becuase they might be watching. Suffice it to say its an English speaking country. I need help with what sort of things to say in response to the question ‘why do you want to join the Air force?’. I mean I do have some ideas but I’m not sure if its good enough. More importantly, I need a good response to the question ‘why do you want to be an officer?’. I need something profound and substantial. Please help out a fellow member of the T-nation.
If you can’t answer that question for yourself, then you don’t have what it takes to be an officer, or in the military for that matter.
I didn’t say I couldn’t answer that for myself dude. I just wanted to see what ideas are out there. Relax dude. You’re too uptight.
I think i may be able to help, i have a contract with the USAF and will be comissioning as an officer when i graduate college in august of 2005.
The military is a life of service. Infact, my countries Air Force has the saying “Integrity first, Service before self, Excellence in all we do.” By looking at the comissioning oath i will be taking in one year, i can see all the reasons why i want to join the Air Force (i’d type the oath here but im sure no one wants to read it). Perhaps your country has a similar oath? Maybe it will help you find the answer you are looking for.
As for bieng an officer over enlisted…hehe, comes down to pay + benifits dont it? Actually i respect the shit out of NCOs, more than alot of officers i’ve met (sadly).
Hope you find waht ur looking for.
