Need a Solid Diet

New guy here. I have been on TNATION every day for the past year and finally made an account. So I have been lifting for about 6 years…training for around 2 now. Have been on the 531 BBB program for about six months. Put on decent size and strength. But I was not very considerate about my diet.

Basically just tried to eat whole foods (just jam protein and carbs down my throat all day) and not really counted calories/protein/carbs. However I tried to keep it 70% of carbs before the workout and 30% after.

For suppliments I am not a fan of throwing money in the trash that I can spend on food, for supplements that claim this and that but are bogus. So currently I just use whey/monohydrate post workout, multi and omegas.

Here is the deal I am 6 2 and have been stuck at 230 pounds for a while and want to continue past 230. My body carries most fat which I do have a little around mid section. Abdominals still visible…if the light hits it just right…But nothing too bad. With aas tempting me in every article I read and having a reliable source…I would like to put on as much natural mass and a few more years before going down that road.

What diet would you recommend for gaining muscle mass? Am I not considering enough supplements due to my sub par diet? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Gee, I wonder if there are any articles on this site about a good mass gaining diet.

Here’s a good start:

These are just ideas. I am not much of a macro or calorie-counter, I’m also a “just eat whole foods” man that focuses on protein and vegetables at every meal, but if you’re hitting a plateau, you may want to start counting for a period of time to make sure you’re eating as much as you think you’re eating EVERY day (not one day of 4,000 calories followed by three days of 2,500 calories). Take a gander at these articles and then look through the archives for others if that doesn’t whet your appetite enough.
