Never Bulked Before

Well, I am looking into doing something that I’ve never done before. That’s bulking up to put on muscle mass. When I was in Highschool I ate anything that was on my plate and even everyone food around me.

I was weighing 236lbs @ 5’6 and my bench max was 375lbs. I did have a decent amount of size on me. Two different types to be exact. Decent muscle size but also decent fat size on me as well. Since I graduated highschool 6 years ago I have been going up and down in my weight all 6 years of it.

From up to 260lbs down to 205lbs where I’m at now. Mostly due to stress I would put on a lot of fat weight, then finally get my stuff together and lose the weight. But to only lose with it alot of muscle over the years.

I have kind of burnt myself out on dieting down to lose weight, and am interested in trying to put on some muscle for a change. But I really have no idea on how to go about it. Ive been constantly dieting to restrict calorie intake. And have never had to increase it really much at all.

So it’s all new to me. I am not exactly lean yet. I would say I’d still have about 20-30lbs more to lose in order to be lean. But I am sick of dieting and feel weak and don’t look at all muscular like I did when I was a few years younger.

I plan on doing the Anti-bodybuilding hypertrophy program for starters. It was suggested to me by a good friend. This way I can try it out for a month see how I like it, then decide to go back on a lower calorie diet or continue to bulk. What should be my caloric intake per day?

What are some good articles for me to read up on to help explain what kind of things I’ll be doing and need to pay extra attention to? I would very much like to put on some mass. Then after I’m happy with results start a dieting phase . Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Read up on the site. Somone mentioned the 5x5 program…Read 5 articles a day for 5 days, every week. After a few months you will know a ton.

This process takes a while, it isnt just eat food and be a body builder. You will definitely need to “try out” ABBH for more than a month. 3 months is more like it, and thats just an appetizer. It takes years. Now for the advise.

Under “Authors” in the right hand menu, look up John Berardi and David Barr. They have some good articles on eating, and you can use the Search feature up top to.

Here are some articles off the top of my head:
