Need a Big Bench Increase

Well do to some real life stuff going on today i finally get to do my 2 board pressing. Worked shoulders this week atleast, looks I’m not goign to get a full week of recovery but it’ll be damn close.

Clutz is correct about the volume. In fact, intensity/volume/frequency all have their roles in strength gain via their interplay.

Max singles/doubles can work but, as I mentioned, need to be done frequently. If you can train 3-4x a week like this, you get the best of all three factors, because at the end of the week, your total volume is still going to be pretty high. It’ll be lower than stuff like Smolov Jr but intensity will be higher (you are training for 1RM so might as well train around that range to adapt body/mind to it)…SAID principle. Of course, this is limited by recovery and it is something that you have to slowly adapt to.

The only successful bencher I know of who used high volume is Rock Lewis. Again, his method isn’t fully revealed but from what I have read, he drops the volume down and started hitting low reps as he preps for competition.

Some sources that influenced me regarding this:
John Broz (not powerlifting oriented) but his philosophy stems from Bulgarian method
Mike T
Doug Hepburn (it can be argued that his method precedes the Prilepin’s although similar to it)
Jamie Lewis

Well after not haveing a ride to them gym past week really I have som catching up to do. Did shoulders today, plan on hitting my 2 board tomorrow friday I’m doing 1 board and Sunday i’m doing single work ,and then ill have a week off of eating everything I can just to get as big as possible. I really feel that I can press the weight just gotta do it now.
