This is going to be a great meet…perhaps one of the best in a long time. Many people will be surprised by the weights lifted, both good and bad. I think 2300 will fall.[/quote]

I think this is the best meet since the Hawiaii record breakers…

This is so great, the best of the best putting it on the line RAW, way to go Josh, i love to see someone stepping up and taking the challenge to see where the real strength is. I think we will see a real rebirth of raw lifting in the next few years, the gear has just gotten ridiculous.

yeah from what i understand these girls are smoking!

That’s right he was not going to be at first now he is, Vince has had a long standing goal of 600 raw. If everything comes together I think he can get it. Hell of a nice guy to boot !

i agree on your predictions some huge numbers will fall. some people will surprise us both ways, cool thing is at the end of teh day no one will be able to say but so and so has better equipment or is better at using equipment!

Amen to that thank goodness Dave Cosnotti and Bruce Derosier took the bull by the balls! Lifter also have the balls to show what they can really do.

hey Josh,

What fed will the rules reflect more, IPF or WPO?

Will there be a monolift or walkouts?

Just a belt or will knee/wrist wraps be allowed?

Thanks

i usually don’t travel to events like this but i think i may just fly in to see this, maybe i will talk Dave hanson (whom i think you know josh) into going with me, although he is about to be a new daddy so we will see.

I’m not Josh, but the rules will be more like the IPF’s rules, or more specifically enforced like the IPF does. Squats will be walked out. Ed Coan is the head judge. Knee sleeves will be allowed, but not knee wraps. Wrist wraps and a belt can be used as well.

Josh, I understand if you don’t want to answer this before the meet, but do you have any idea what you can squat raw? You’ve demonstrated your bench and deadlift strength in competition before, so some of us have an idea of what you’re going to do there, but I think for a lot of guys, the squat is a huge question mark. Good luck no matter what.

It’ll be interesting to see how people’s raw squats compared to their deadlifts. I think for most of these guys, it’ll be a little more or a little less than their conventional pull.

hell yeah i know dave hanson, he is a class act! if y’all show up please say hello.

I don’t care to post here thanks for understanding. Who are you anyways? My gut says I know you.

I’m just a schmoe that lifts with Donnie Thompson and Marc Bartley. Donnie will be doing the meet, and he should do pretty well. I think you and him will be pretty close on your bench/dead total, but I really have no idea what either of you can squat raw. I’ve seen him handle 705 for reps easily raw, but does that mean he can do 715 or 900? hahaha. I don’t know. We will find out. Good luck at the meet; it’s going to be awesome. Hopefully there’ll be more like it over the next few years.

I think the squats will be really interesting. No one really has any clue what anyone else can do raw, because most of the top powerlifters compete in geared feds, and most of those guys don’t care to squat very heavy raw, which is understandable. But it’s just funny that we at least have a ballpark idea on what people can bench and deadlift raw yet have very little clue about true raw squats.

Agreed! Tell Donnie hello for me. Marc’s training Log on Elite Fitness is hillarious, haha. That dude is a riot

are you coming to the meet dude?

what is wrong with hanging your hat on being able to use gear to the maximum of it’s potential?

I don’t recall anyone saying there is anything “wrong” with it. Something is only cheating if it is against the rules, want to use a fork lift…awesome if with in the rules. I am excited because the strongest person will win, you might get excited because the best gear technician wins.

hey do u have to like buy tickets to go or anyhting or is it just show up?

tickets can be purchased at the door.

True. This kind of thing does appeal to me. It’s just that it’s a totally different style of lifting. I gotta give credit to the guys who do this. I don’t think I’d ever do anything like that even later in my career when people acuse me of relying on gear. Oh well, the way I look at it, if it’s there you gotta do the best with it.

i agree with you. that is the cool thing if you want to lift here you can if not that’ fine. everyone on that list has competed in primarily equipped meets.
