I really thought Bama would win somewhat convincingly, pretty shocked. Not to mention what happened with Oregon and FSU.
I’m not making excuses for FSU or belittling Oregon’s win(I think they’re the best team in the country and have for pretty much the entire season), but that 3rd quarter had an element of freakishness to it that FSU just couldn’t overcome. The Ducks forced some of those fumbles, but fumbles in some form even when ‘forced’ are still a fluke-ish thing.

Now, FSU couldn’t stop their offense at all so they probably lose that game anyway, but it ended up being a stomp when I think the 'Noles are actually very capable of competing for all 4 quarters in it. I mean, they put up almost 600 yards themselves, there was just some Murphey’s Law shit that finally, FINALLY caught up to them after squeaking out seemingly every game this year.
Sort of, but FSU turning the ball over 3+ times a game is the norm and 2+ TO quarters weren’t out of the ordinary for them. That was part of that teams identity this year and was a large part of the reason why most thought that the lone undefeated team in the playoff was in fact the worst team in the playoff. FSU this year was like Auburn this year, no matter what happened things just kept bouncing their way at the right time and it allowed an undeserving team to be put in a position they never should have been in, in the first place.

I’ll eat whatever humble pie yall have to serve, as I wasn’t totally blindsided by what happened. Alabama is nowhere even close to the Bama of the past 5 years and although I thought they would beat OSU because I didn’t think a 3rd string QB could take advantage of their glaring secondary weakness, I knew Oregon would take them to the cleaners.

Ole Miss was over their heads against TCU even if Sanders, Treadwell, and the line had been healthy. Miss St. surprised me a little but I think not having the guy that had been calling plays for you on defense all season their probably hurt them a little against a good unorthodox GaTech offense. Both the Mississippi schools have been slumping heavily the last 3 games for whatever reason though.

Auburn-Wisconsin I thought would be close but I had Auburn, even without Duke Williams. I knew you couldn’t judge them off common opponent LSU as Wisconsin had some really rough D-line luck in that game and should have won, and Auburn hasn’t played as well as they did against LSU since that point really.

LSU game was surprising but when you don’t have a QB that can complete a screen and a very young D it makes for interesting outcomes at times.

Other games I found the scores surprising in:

Clemson v Oklahoma (who saw a blowout that bad coming)

Most Pac-12 teams I felt underperformed, SEC East and Big 10 surprised me with how well they performed, actually had Minnesota picked to beat Missouri but was surprised there. ACC and Big 12 had as many ups as downs with probably a few more ups for the Big 12.

Oklahoma has to be the most disappointing team on the season this year right? Maybe South Carolina?

I mean, coming off the win against Bama in bowl season last year, they were right up there as one of the favorites for a title, and were playing like it to start this season. Destroyed Tenn(I know they’re barely a bowl team, but still a decent enough non-conference win), beat a quality WVU team in their house, and in hindsight a loss to TCU by point in a really fantastic game is fine.

But then they lose to K-State(also a really tight game, I think it was a crazy finish as well can’t quite remember), and then they get DESTROYED by Baylor, and then the rivalry loss to end the regular season, and this Clemson blowout? OU fans must be really salty.

I know I was fooled, I had them in a tossup with Bama as the #2 team behind Oregon early in the season(had the Ducks at the top on the strength of the MSU victory).

I was right there with you, through the first few games I had them (as did most of the non-idiot fanatical fans I talk to) had them as easily one of the four best teams in the country.

South Carolina lost so much, either way they went I wouldn’t have thought it that surprising.

This was a kind of odd season with teams going from looking great to looking pathetic weekly (Georgia) or teams taking late season nose dives (Oklahoma) and plenty of inconsistent play in between.

Baylor and TCU need to go away. They’re Boise State with the benefit of being in Texas.

TCU has a built program, that coach knows what he is doing.

This… And although watching a Big 12 air raid game that features track team WR’s and a rocket arm QB playing against a Polish defense makes me want to cry die a little inside, TCU is headed in the right direction and seeing them become a Oregon caliber team in the next couple years would not surprise me a bit.

I hope you’re not serious about ANY college team ever in the history of college sports beating a professional team. Maybe when they had replacement players in the NFL…

I think the Ducks will win by 10+ but I absolutely cannot totally discount Meyer as he may be the best coach in college football today. They have the team that can pull an upset on Ducks, however, the QB situation will catch up to them eventually. Bama’s secondary being so weak against the deep ball never really tested him, but Oregon I think can cover that over the top stuff to Smith. With that said, OSU can run on Oregon, FSU did but they just turned it over at the end of the runs. But I had Oregon winning it all several weeks before the end of the season, if they made it past Arizona (who has a weird spell on them). They are really the only team that has looked remotely elite this year, TCU being the possible other one but Ole Miss made them look way better than they are.

OSU has the same chance to beat oregon has they did bama. Nobody thought they’d beat Wisconsin either…

I had my doubts this season, obviously after that VT loss, and then the nail biter @ PSU made me incredibly nervous for Michigan State.

I went from doubt to crushed when JT Barrett went off the field on a cart against the Wolverines.

And then Ezekiel Elliott grew up, and 12 Gauge declared hunting season open on Badgers, Elephants, and Ducks.

O-H-I-O.

I guess you might say the Ducks…

layed an egg.

OSU made Oregon their bitch last night.

I sure would have liked to see what TCU would have done to either of those teams.
