NBA Free Agency/Offseason

Did you guys hear that Chris Paul is starting to generate some chatter about creating a new big three in NY? Stoudemire, himself and Carmelo Anthony. What do you guys think about this potential combo in NY? I like it and it not a bad plan B if the Knicks could pull it off in the next year or so and can keep the cap room and be patient to make something like this happen.

It would definitely make NY relevant again to the level of where they were with Patrick Ewing and company in the 90s.

Not bad??? The best pure scorer in the game, the best PG and Amare in the Dantoni system. Hoky Shit Paul in the Dantoni system fuck that would be awesome. And back to hating you.

NEWS: DAL and UTA coming down head to head with MIN to get Al Jefferson.

UTA needs to replace Boozer, so Jefferson would be nice. DAL re-signed Brendan Haywood so not sure what DAL would do with him.[/quote]

I think Jefferson is maybe the most slept on big man in the league. I think he’ll fit with Utah better than Boozer if they can get him.

oh man I have missed so much!!!

I hope that those NY Big 3 really do get together. That would be so awesome for them to trump the Heat in the East every year… super rad

Couldn’t agree more. Jefferson is a solid big man that’s happened to play on bad teams. Get him to UTA where he can start playing with a winner.

NEW: Jordan apparently having second thoughts on the CHA trade and may rescind.

MJ getting cold feet from the front office. Interesting…

NEW: UTA sign off on trade with MIN for Al Jefferson.

Good for Al, he’ll finally play on a winning team. And good for UTA on getting a replacement for Boozer.

NEW: Spurs sign their 2007 draft pick Tiago Splitter.

He’s a 6’11 big man and one of the best players not playing in the NBA. Spurs see big potential in him and expect him to contribute immediately. He might be the new Pau Gasol.

Spurs are building big and new very quickly. Its pretty exciting for Spurs fans out there.

Check: Will be rooting for the Suns too next season.

Listening to a short portion of the ESPN interview with the 3 Amigos and my perception of Wade has somewhat changed. He came across as very perceptive, intelligent and friendly. I can now admit that he does come off as a likable guy.

I’ve always liked Wade. He lacks the finesse of Kobe or the power of LeBron, but he’s really fucking good, if not a bit streaky. Watching him tear up the games while at Marquette is crazy.

Dan Gilbert and others have 7 FUCKING YEARS to build a decent team around LeBron and couldn’t get it done. And David Stern was right to fine Gilbert for $100k :

if the players are fined/punished for not dressing up for post-game conferences (cited for lack of professionalism as a reflection on their organizations), then it’s equally unprofessional for an owner to essentially defame a player the way Gilbert did to LeBron.

My official Clyde “the glide” Drexler jersey agrees!

1990 and 1992 seasons still sting.

I agree with everything you said except the part about having 7 years and not getting the right players to win a championship. They brought in every player they possibly could and did everything LeBron asked them to do. The cabs had the best record in the entire NBA two seasons in a row! The league MVP two seasons in a row and LBJ choked in the playoffs. The owners/management can’t help the fact that their team underachievs when the pressure is on and it really counts.

I think everyone saw this fine coming for Gillbert I’m just a little surprised at the amount. I thought it would be higher.

Drewdines, you’re going to love this…

Michael Jordan weighs in on LeBron James and Kobe Bryant

Lost in all the hubbub of LeBron James(notes) switching teams and all that entails â?? you know, legacy, fandom, championship opportunities; minor things, really â?? was the simple fact that the Miami Heat actually added LeBron James to their team. That’s a pretty big deal! And since he’s one of the two best players in the NBA, â?? and the Heat only had to give up a few draft picks and a trade exception to get him â?? it was a pretty good move for Miami, to say the absolute very least.

And while joining Dwyane Wade(notes) might hurt LeBron in his battle with Kobe Bryant(notes) for the best-player-in-the-league throne, one Miami Heat jersey retiree thinks the two-time reigning regular-season MVP is already a step behind the two-time reigning finals MVP. And no, we’re not hearing from Tim Hardaway. It’s someone a smidge more famous who didn’t even play for the Heat but had his jersey retired by the team nonetheless â?? Michael Jordan.

That is huge news. That could totally change the structure of their team going forward. What makes him a little different from the traditional “skilled Euro big man” is the high regard that is held for his defensive ability.

Haven’t seen him play but all they talk about is his “toughness” being in-line with Nocioni and Scola. If he turns out to be anything like either of those guys then the Spurs picked up a player. Ironically, I’m pretty sure the Spurs drafted Scola but traded him 'cause they didn’t have room or something.

your such a troll just make an i heart kobe thread and you can gay it up as much as you want.

It’s official, Jordan has rejected the 3-team deal.

Raja Bell is coming into LA tomorrow where Kobe is going to put the full court press on him. It looks like its down to the Lakers and the Spurs for Raja Bell. I think we have $1.8 mil left on the MLE and Spurs have about $2.6 mil to spend. BUT, Raja wants to win a ring so I would give the slight advantage to the Lakers.

Dudes, if we sign Raja Bell who is also a 40% 3 pt shooter (like Steve Blake) and a defensive specialist (like Steve Blake) the Lakers will have seriously upgraded their roster at the backcourt positions.

Derek Fisher, Kobe Bryant, Steve Blake, and Raja Bell are much greater than DFish, KB, Jordan Farmar and Shannon Brown. If this happens the Lakers defense will be stifling. Actually I think they can approach the 08 Celtics on the defensive end with this team.

I’m sorry but unless Miami signs some more big name players there is NO WAY they’re winning anything any time soon.

Let’s see how they match up with Miami so far. Yes, Miami has three offensive super stars but it’s like the Lakers were ready made to combat any of Miami’s advantages.

Ron Artest - the best defensive guy to contain Lebron
Kobe Bryant - the best defensive guy to contain Wade
Pau Gasol/Bynum/Odom - the three trees that really clog up the middle and will push around Bosh, Udonis Haslem, Joel Anthony and Mike Miller
Fisher/Blake/Bell (if the Lakers get em) - Fisher is a bit of a liability here defensively but Blake and Bell are not and will help contain Mario Chalmers and whoever else they can get.

Yep, even if Miami makes the finals I like the Lakers chances…A lot. Also, for any of the Kobe/Laker fans out there. What better way to continue to build a legacy than beating the team of Wade/Bosh/Lebron in a finals match. Good stuff.

Ron Artest containing LBJ that’s a stretch. Blake will not be guarding Miller so no he’ll be guarding Arroyo or Chalmers each I think are quicker and better than Blake. Bell is severely overrated as a defender. The whole Kobe stopper stuff not so much.
IMO you should be way more worried about the defense of the new big three it’s going to be a block party and LA is invited.
