Same here, but it looks like it’s gonna happen. Weird, a guy who was hyped as having the potential to be GOAT is now settling for being the 2nd best player in the history of his team. -_-
I guess financially it makes sense. He gets a huge market without NY’s pressure.
Brazil just scored a goal while I was typing this. Multitasking FTL. I’m out.
Someone can show me a written statement from James himself declaring he’s signing with the Bulls and I still won’t believe it until I see him in a Chicago uniform. I just cannot see it happening.
lol flash youre forgetting we’re living in the 21st century. theres hardly any pride and pressure when theres green involved.
but i hope he doesnt go to chi. he needs to be a knick.

I’m kind of indifferent to the Lakers myself, but I admit that once Phoenix got eliminated from the playoffs I wanted to see Kobe get 5. And now I wouldn’t mind him getting 6 and 7 even if teams I like don’t get to win as a result.

I stand by my prediction that he either stays with the Cavs or goes to NJ. The move to the Bulls makes absolutely no sense on so many levels.

I’d like to see him have another game 7 with some left in the tank so he can avenge the bad shooting night this year. I’m interested to see if and what surgeries he needs this off-season. He was pretty beat up for the better part of the year.

…or does it make perfect sense? I don’t actually think it makes perfect sense, but still:
big money market, which seems to be what he’s most interested in.
set up to be a contender
he probably thinks he’s better than jordan anyway, or maybe is being told that by the people around him.
NJ is good but he’d basically have to sacrifice the next 2 years. 2 years of his near-prime is a lot to sacrifice.

My thing is, up until the last few weeks people “in the know” were talking about how they expected him to make a financial move and that James didn’t seem too worried about winning at the moment, and now he’s all about signing with a contender? Pretty sure he’s not [that] delusional, so doubt he thinks he’s better than Jordan. And, if he were to go to NJ he’d get the same level of exposure without anywhere near the pressure, and he’d have a proven coach running the show. Guess we’'l see pretty soon here.
Read an NY Times article today claiming Lebron and Bosh to Chicago. After a little digging, the “executive” quoted in the article is a guy named William “Worldwide Wes” Wesley, a guy I admittedly knew nothing about until today. Google Worldwide Wes and read the GQ article about him. Apparently this guy has been pulling strings behind the scenes in sports for years. He’s connected to Allen Iverson, Michael Jordan and Lebron James, among others. When Ron Artest punched the fan in Detroit, he was the guy who ran on the court and restrained him.
This guy sounds shady as fuck, but his word means something to those “in the know”.
Also, the Bulls just got rid of Kirk Hinrich, so they have enough salary cap space to sign 2 max contract free agents.
Lebron-Bosh-Rose-Noah would be far and away the favorites to win it all imo.
i cant believe joakim noah is a “factor” now. “hey we have x, y, z, and noah! we’re unstoppable.” I always thought he was in the games for entertainment value. Same with Nate Robinson.
It’s great to see the level of interest on this thread for the NBA free agency. Obviously this is one of the most intriguing free agencies I’ve ever seen it’s still cool to see this level of interest in the NBA. I always feel like we fans are like the baby brother of professional baseball and of course the big brother football.
Another article prognosis of what’s imoportant to Lebron and one important factor is ownership which actually puts into question the Lebron to Bulls rumor as this article mentions along with many other things.
But don’t forget there was an actual draft that just happened as well. Here’s a funny take of what happened that night by one of the
most entertaining sports writers out there today, Bill Simmons.

I think the Brooklyn Nets might give a lot of exposure, but for the 2 years he was in NJ it’d suck. IIRC, they had trouble selling out their venue when they were in the Finals with Jason Kidd. Hence why they needed to move in the first place.
If he had a contender made out of them by the time they moved to BK, it could work out in LBJ favour. But that’d also be a risk on the same level as the risks he’s taking by going to the Bulls.
I honestly had the dude staying in Cleveland and just being a tease.

Here’s the article:
I also linked that article, but I’m pretty sure the executive is not Wes. They’d have just named him in that case, like they did in other articles.
I’m not sure why the Wizards took Hinrich, btw. Now they have Wall, Hinrich, and Arenas. They’re trying to get rid or Arenas, and I heard it was so they could focus on letting Wall be the PG and future of the team, but now I’m not so sure,

That’s a great article. Looks like ownership is one factor that goes against the idea of James signing with the Bulls.
I pretty much have the following as the factors in where LBJ goes:
marketing opportunities, his brand
titles, stats-- his legacy
loyalty to his team and home state [in the case of the Cavaliers]
pressure–which is why NY is a no no.
actual salary from the team–I really think this is of smaller importance to him in the grand scheme of things
Ownership plays into #1 heavily. Also the five factors play into each other obviously-- like how winning titles would make him a bigger brand outside of North America, and having a good legacy would help his brand after he retires [MJ earns more endorsement money than any active player I believe], etc.

This is why I kept saying he’d sign a 2-3 year deal with Cleveland now, and sign with NJ when the deal’s up. I’m not so sure now though. Did any of y’all catch his quotes from “LeBron appreciation day” [which is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard of, btw] at the University of Akron? Can’t find the direct quote, but it was something like “Akron is my home. It will never leave me. I love all of you” and the first thing I thught ws “Shit, he’s gone”. Cleveland fans have to be freaking out.

LOL…I saw a couple of short clips of it on SC a week or two back. I remember him saying something along the lines of what you posted, but it hadn’t occurred to me that he was foreshadowing anything. Guess he was.
You guys disappoint me. The latest news is that Dirk will apparently opt out of his contract with the Mavs. If Dirk is now in the so called ‘game’ he’s easily considered the second best free agent prospect behind LeBron James. Fuck Bosh, Johnson, A’mare. After watching PTI today I really like the idea of LBJ and Dirk going some place together. However I really doubt its going to happen because LeBron will probably want to be with his “boys”: Wade and/or Bosh.

Just saw PTI myself. No, Kornheiser was just saying that HE thinks Dirk is the best free agent that could be a #2 guy. Because at this point in his career, Dirk would totally be #2 to win a title. He didn’t say Dirk was the 2nd best guy out there. And I don’t think the consensus does either.
Also on PTI, they mentioned that it’s a big possibility that LBJ, Wade and Bosh may play together in Miami under Riley. They’d be instant contenders, but all three would take a hit to their individual stats. Romour is, Wade is PUSHING for it to happen, too. I’d have imagined Wade would be intimidated by LeBron coming.
Maybe Dirk goes to NY to play with Johnson, Amare and get coached by D’Antoni. Could work, and NY has the money. And that team could be a contender, too provided they get half decent guys to join them.
