Apparently Howard told the Magic he wants to stay in Orlando for the rest of the season and it’s up to them to “roll the dice”.
@WallaceNBA_ESPN: Dwight Howard said tonight he’s informed Magic he wants to stay for rest of season. Said they now must “roll the dice.”
Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine
Should be clear by now Dwight wants to finish season in ORL so he can opt out in July and head straight to Brooklyn w/out Nets being gutted
David Aldridge @daldridgetnt
Dwight saying he wants to stay in Orlando=Dwight leaving Orlando on July 1 & going to Nets/Dallas, who didn’t have to blow up rosters 4 him.
Thought this comment was pretty funny:
Bruce Arthur @bruce_arthur
If Orlando doesn’t trade Dwight now, they’re the guy who thinks that stripper really likes them.
He says playing in ORL after this season was a real possibility but he didn’t rescind his trade demand. That makes no sense. If you’re demanding a trade how could you possibly want to stay in ORL?
Just caught game recaps on NBATV and local beat-writer in ORL says that LAL (a Howard-Bynum swap) is back in the fold alongside NJ and that he expects something to go down on deadline thurs…

He doesn’t. He’s just another shithead (like LeBron James) that’s down to fuck an organization that made him rich. The fact that Howard is doing what he is shows what a fucking cocksucker he really is.

A little harsh. Even Kobe asked for a trade when things weren’t going well.
I think the best explanation I’ve heard is the wrong guy gets a hold of these players ears and they don’t realize how good they have it until it’s too late.
T-Mac has talked about how leaving the Raptors was a mistake in hindsight. I’m sure Bosh doesn’t like being the 3rd wheel in MIA to an extent. He bitches about the lack of exposure.
Truest motherfucker in the NBA is Dirk Nowitzki. He took a couple million $ pay-cut just so his team could get better. He kept his mouth shut, did it behind-the-scenes and constantly shows what professionalism looks like in pro athletics. Dwight, LeBron (took a pay cut but it was part of the relocation ‘plan’), Kobe and any other punks take note.

Did you all read this yet? Melo is the cancer that killed Linsanity. NY Post writer Marc Berman wrote this morning that he now wants to be traded before the deadline.

Asking for a trade isn’t the issue. Holding the team hostage by saying “roll the dice” knowing full and well he has no intention of re-signing is some LeBron James type shit. He’s basically insuring that Orlando gets nothing in return while he leaves and goes to whichever team he wants with roster intact. Shithead move.

He’s using the Melo playing card, force a sign and trade or get nothing when I leave.
Maybe he should give Melo a call and see how that plan worked out for him?

So there are all these rumours swirling around the Bulls acquiring Howard and now Gasol.
I have to ask, why the fuck would they do anything? They are playing awesome right now. If there’s any truth to these rumours they must be scared as hell of facing MIA again in the playoffs.
If the playoffs started tomorrow would you pick the Bulls or the Heat in a best of 7?
I read that rumor, I also read he’s refusing a deal to the Bulls, I also heard this morning on Mike and Mike the Magic’s president is offering to let Dwight decide the fate of SVG and the GM (fucking ridiculous if true).
So many rumors, I’m getting sick of it. Every time I think about it I see Dwight’s goofy dufus ass face and I get even more pissed.
I disagree with raj about being terrified of Miami - they are realistic. They lost to MIA last year and MIA has improved while CHI is about the same. They CAN beat them but it make sense to get another star player if they can. I would love if they got Howard or Gasol.
BUT. What the fuck are they gonna trade for Gasol? The main chip would have to be Boozer or Deng and neither is nearly good enough to headline a Gasol trade. Lakers don’t need another center (Noah) and Bulls don’t have much in the way of valuable first-rounders to throw in.
Howard might be easier to trade for because we take Turk’s contract and build around a Noah/Deng offer by adding Asik/Gibson etc. But he doesn’t want to go there. WHY THE FUCK NOT? Chicago is a top-2 team in basketball and Howard has no interest in going there. Tells me winning is not #1 on his priority list. The possible reasons he could not want to go there are:
It’s already Rose’s town and he wants to be “the guy”
Not as good for his “brand” as LA or NYC
I really don’t fucking know. He would have an excellent shot at a ring.
Howard’s an awesome player but screw him. I would love to watch him swat shots in red and white but he’s an idiot.
It’s really fucking annoying me how the media is painting the Knicks’ Lin era as “awesome until Melo got back, then terrible”. They had a ridiculously easy stretch of games that coincidentally got MUCH harder as soon as Melo got back.
Granted, I just looked up Melo’s stats and they are worse than they thought. But he is still Melo and he can turn it on and score with anyone. The real issue is Amare going from All-Star to average. The Knicks are a contender if they have an All Star PF right now. I think his knees were not helped by another year of age plus the 35-37mins/night he’s played this year and last. Dude has lost a step.

How did I do guys?
I fail to see how that makes either team better.
Semi-troll post.
Basically addressing the two issues we are discussing and trying to solve them simultaneously.

I checked out of the convo for a bit, but.
(I said it made no sense BEFORE I heard about D’Antoni)
Putting Chandler and Melo into Orlando makes them worse. Chandler is a (very) poor man’s Dwight, and without someone in the post who commands a double team, all their crappy wings who can’t create their own shot will be blanketed. Melo will have to create 100% of their offense. To sum up: their offense gets worse and their defense gets slightly worse.
From the Knicks standpoint:
Defensively, Dwight’s a bit better than Chandler and Hedo is no better than Melo, so they’re helped a bit. Offensively, it doesn’t fit D’Antoni at all to have a dominant post player. Using Howard strictly as a roll man in PnR’s is way underutilizing him offensively. Hedo might help Lin via Pick n Pop but he will add less to offense overall than Melo did, plus he can’t get up and down the floor like Melo so the Run N Gun suffers.
Now that I know the D’Antoni news, I might disagree with my NYK point.
