Anything Jordan did between 86-90 pretty much SHITS on anyother season of anyother player ever. The average between those seasons is about 33,7,7 with 3 steals (THREE), 1.5 blocks (as a fucking 2 guard) while shooting about 53% from the field and 85% from the line. That is fucking bonkers. He only shot about 20% from 3 though.

Yep. Someone made a comment a while back about how Jordan also did it before hand checking rule came into play. Which is huge.

Was going to mention that. Not only was hand checking allowed, but the play was just way more physical overall. If you went into the lane there was a good chance you were getting dumped on your ass. I will say that Jordan never had to deal with zones, and the players are significantly bigger, stronger and more athletic today, but what Jordan did was mind boggling. Seriously doubt we’ll see anything like that again in our lifetime.
Even the Dallas GM would rather have D-Rose over Dirk?
I don’t think ‘rather have’ and ‘build’ are the same thing, especially when we’re talking about players who are vastly different in terms of age. Treating it purposely vague, I’d rather have Dirk on my side. D-Rose is a 6’3 guard who is easier to contain relative to defending Dirk. Nowitzki is probably the most unique player in NBA history and what he did last year in the playoffs was amazing. If I wanted to win a championship this year I’d pick Dirk over D-Rose.

They’re pretty hard to compare since they’re almost complete opposites.
Ill get it out of the way first, Rondo was an absolute beast, and would of dropped 30 if he didnt miss some point blank layups. Paul Pierce…is as fucking deliberate as could be and you still couldnt touch him.
Lin was awful, early foul trouble, and instead of sneakers I think he was wearing ice skates because he was slipping and sliding everywhere.
Dear Coach D’antoni:
Why did we not foul Pierce, why did we let him shoot a three? How many times does Jeremy Lin have to guard paul pierce on constant switches? Why is Iman Shumpert guarding that goon KG? How much switiching is necessary? We had that game won…I blame the coaches fuck you D’antoni.
Can Hubie Brown come out of retirement and coach the Knicks again please.
But to be fair, the Heat didn’t have Bosh and got absolutely nothing from their front court offensively.

They got nothing from their frontcourt 'cause the Lakers D was on point. Didn’t start watching til midway through the third, and don’t know about his final stat line, but Artest played phenomenal D on James, forcing him into step back jumpers. The only buckets I saw James get were garbage buckets, and I laughed when after he fake shoved Murphey he immediately put his hands up to signify he didn’t want trouble. The guy is such a cake.

That’s a Woodson thing, not a D’Antoni thing. While it’s true D’Antoni has the final say, Woodson has a much stronger track record of defensive success so it’s understandable D’Antoni would defer.
Woodson was pretty damn successful with that strategy in Atlanta, however, much like Shanahan trying to turn Haynesworth into a Nose Tackle in a 3-4, Woodson’s strategy is personnel dependent. The Hawks had a lot of long athletic guys so switching every screen was doable. Horford and Smith have the speed to D up guards, and Williams/Johnson are big enough to switch onto bigs and be passable.
Knicks don’t have the personnel for that in my opinion. Woodson needs to fit his scheme to his personnel not the other way around.

Maybe a better question is who, if anyone, would you choose to build around ahead of Lebron James?
Results of NBA Players Poll (from Sports Illustrated, March 5, 2012)
If you were starting a team from scratch, which player would you choose first?
L James - 37%
D Howard - 19%
K Durant - 11%
K Bryant - 10%
D Rose - 10%
(results based on 137 NBA players who responded to SI’s survey; in a similar poll on facebook, Durant beat out LeBron, 36% to 22%)

Interesting given it’s a “point guard league”, but i’d have to agree despite my own feelings towards lebald.
Would you rather have Howard, or Anthony Davis?
Of course Bryant would only get 10% of the vote, he’s 33. If we’re talking “in their primes”, I’m taking Bryant 100% of the time.
And, as overrated as Howard is it’s WAY too early to compare Davis to him. The kid’s played not quite one full season of college ball. Let’s let him get a few years of pro ball under his belt before we throw around comparisons.

Too early for sure, but i’ve been hearing ppl comparing him to shaq and he can actually shoot the ball. Worth a mention atleast.
Kobe in his prime all day, everyday.
You mean the skinny kid from Kentucky with the crazy unibrow? They’re comparing him to Shaq!?!? Admittedly haven’t watched a Wildcat game all year, but I don’t get the comparison at all. from what I saw of him in highschool he reminded me of a young, less athletic Rasheed Wallace.
