Nautilus Pullover Machine

Hey Thibs:

I was reading an article of yours from 6 yrs ago where it mentioned you liked the pullover machine. Do you still?

New gym where I am at has one - been years since I used one. Thought I would try it out today, ended up doing the stack x 8 reps full ROM.

The stack says 245, there is an additional 10lbs. so can get to what it considers 255.

Do you have suggestions on how I can get benefit from this machine if I’m already doing the stack?

Thanks,
M

When it’s a good pullover machine, I love it. Sadly, the modern versions almost all suck. The only ones that I like are the first two generations of Nautilus pullovers, with a preference for the first one (plate loaded… the one used by Dorian Yates in his video); as well as the Avenger on (which we have at Biotest).

If you’re already at the far end of the strength curve for the particular machine you have access to, you might want to try different exercises that mimic the action of the pullover machine. I’ve been a huge fan of doing straight arm pulldowns with a rope attachment for a while now, and like to think that it always help me to better feel the other back exercises that follow.
