i have been working on gaining some size for about 4 months now. I use ON natural gold standard whey after my workouts and sometimes liquid aminos before working out.
since i have a history of high blood pressure and cholesterol, i am trying to stay with products that are ‘natural’ and without added preservatives, caffeine, stimulants, artificial colors etc etc…
I know that there is tons of stuff out there for muscle growth but is there anything out there that would help me with my goals and that is on the healthier/natural side?
Food, lots of it. Supplements play a small role, and they are there to “supplement” where your nutritional intaske comes up short. A properly set up diet will need little in the realm of supplements. I would reccomend into looking into peri-wo nutrition ass it seems you are not getting any carbs around your workout. Surge is a great product, search around for talk of post workout drinks.
Your liquid aminos are probably useless. BCAA (the essential aminos and ones that are useful for muscle growth) are not particularly stable in liquid from what I’ve heard. The liquid aminos I’ve ever seen is nothing but a way to sell you crap you already get in your good.
I would suggest finding a protein powder without artificial colors or sweeteners. The ingredient list will give you all your information. However, I don’t personally think most supplements containing artificial ingredients will actually effect your cholesterol. As already said, food is your best bet for putting on size as well as having a healthy heart and arteries.
Food is number 1, after that I’d say an additional protein powder and creatine are top priorities for just about anyone. You can get protein without added flavoring, the taste is bland for most but hey that’s what you get haha.

If you have any sort of clinical condition than we are the wrong people to ask, only and registered dietician or doctor would be able to give you recomendations.
If not …
Then I would say stick to whole clean healthy foods.
Soluable fiber has been shown to reduce cholesterol by absorbing and causing the excretion of bile(made out of cholesterol) in the body. There is soluable fiber in fruits and veggies, couple that with a clean diet filled with other whole foods, lean meats, and low fat dairy products and you will be on your way. As for anything, I would suggest getting your nutrition around your workouts under control, maybe Surge or timeing a post workout meal with real foods(chicken and two pieces of fruit). Sticking to a clean diet consisting of “real” foods will tend to lower your sodium intake and could possible help with your hypertension.
