Powerhouse, Rosedale, MD
If you took the best parts of each, you’d end up with a semi-decent gym.

New York Sports Club.
This is part of Philidelphia, Washington, and Boston Sports Clubs chain.
My gyms pretty well equipped. Its just no true heavy lifters go there. I guess it could be called a Hardcore Womens Gym, and a low end strongman gym. I will need to supplement many things, like oly bars and farmer walks & sleds and the like for my own “home” gym.
Anyway, its a “5” on a sacle of 1 to 10.
NYC Fitness 3552 Broadway @ 146th street in Harlem. Lots of gigantic dudes doing everything you’d think would be wrong. Lots of pull-ups, benching and military pressing, lots of multi set bicep curls, nobody doing deadlifts, rows or even close to parallel squats. No one doing low reps on anything yet everyone is jacked. Can’t figure it out. Maybe simplicity is key.

Where is that? I don’t think they had that when I was there.
As for me…I will admit it…24 Hour Fitness (Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Oxnard, Temecula). I know it gets a bad rap around here but it works into the budget nicely.

I was going to Southern Cross Health in Phillip ACT but I have moved and now I will probably be going to Club Lime (either that or killing myself). If there is anyone else from Canberra they will know why this move is making me cry.

I’m not a fan of either gym, but they are close and relatively cheap. Each has it’s plusses and minuses. (mostly minuses)
I started at the old Gold’s Gym in Middletown,Ct (DAMN I miss that place)

You are not too far from me (and I have worked out at the WoW of which you speak… machines too crowded together).
I work out at LA Fitness in South Windsor, CT. It’s not ideal, but not bad. I can use chalk (technically not supposed to, but a bunch of people do it and I have never seen management say a darn thing when they see it), deadlift, etc. Plus it is nice to have the hoops court when I just want to get in a run.
