Okay, I’m going to ask a different question and see what the response is. First, I’ll give my perspective: I’m now in my second marriage, and this is something that is bothering me a bit. Both of these ladies did the same thing. It has to do with going to the bathroom with the door open. My thoughts are along the lines of maintaining the “fantasy” of the perfect lady – this is something I just don’t want to see. I remember a post a long while back where some one said something about maintaining the impression that the lady is perfect and farts baby powder! Yes, I know they do it, I just don’t want to see it. Is it just one of those “sharing” things? Like gaining more of a sense of intimacy? I close the door when I’m in there, and I have no problems walking around the house naked. But this bathroom thing bothers me. Any feedback?
Brider: I am totally with you on this one! My ex used to never shut the bathroom door for ANY reason. After a while I got used to it but always needed my own privacy when I was “powdering”. That’s one thing I am very grateful for with my current lover, the shared notions of privacy. We are both comfortable being naked (I more so than he) around the house but the bathroom door is always shut, the fan turned on and sometimes the water running as well when one of us is indisposed. I think there is a definite difference between being confident and comfortable with your own body and being crude enough to put your bodily functions on display. Ick. It falls under the same category as people that have farting or belching contests. Ick.
When I was a university student living with 6 other football players, there was no such thing as privacy. Before hitting the bars on a weekend night it was not uncommon for a roomate to be on the throne, while another one was in the shower and a third was brushing his teeth. Everyone would be rushing to get cleaned up and there was no patience for anyone monopolizing a bathroom to themselves. My wife however never experienced this sort of behaviour and is quite private about bathroom goings on. As such, I respect her privacy and in turn close the door when I visit the little cowboy’s room. It’s only out of respect for her however as I personally could care less. As my wife says “men are just gross”.
I agree. When in the bathroom, keep the door shut whether you’re doing number 1 or number 2! I would never leave the door open or let someone in the bathroom with me when I’m doing number 2! I need my privacy, and I wouldn’t want someone else to leave the door open when they take a dump! Taking a piss can be different. My girl will usually leave the door open when she pisses, but I usually tell her to close it. I’d rather not watch. But I’ve also had her in the bathroom when I’m taking a piss too. So it depends on the situation. Oh yeah, I’m one of those people that will not shit anywhere but my own house too. Just like Paul Finch in American Pie (“Shitbreak”), I would never go at school or in a public place. That’s just gross!
