N.E.R.D Musical Failure

I heard you should not cut them out of your diet. and they are a fruit. right?

nah, you just don’t “get” it.

but seriously, i understand that the hook may be annoying to you, but the beat? that’s just a ridiculous statement.

anyway to find out you think everyone nose is the worst song…wow i think you have absolutely terrible taste in music. im not gonna stand here saying throwing insults over it. i just think you have really really really really bad taste, or ears, if you think that song is bad let alone terrible or “musical failure”.
How old are you?

Pharrell isn’t lazy…such a retarded statement. Where have you been for the past 15 years??

He’s a PRODUCER who just doesn’t take himself too seriously AS AN ARTIST…as most (coughKanye) do these days. N.E.R.D. is for fun…nothing more.

But a month or two from now,you will be starting a thread about that banging track from Pharrell or something that has his stamp on it.

And yes, this album was garbage to me…but its like crying over one or two bad apples in a good bushel.

Me? I highly doubt it.

I don’t mind his music, but I’d never ever pay for that.

You never know…and yes,I wouldn’t pay for that myself…but I know its meant to be stupid also.

Everything played on Billboard free radio is FAIL, bottom line.

Try listening to some underground Metal and Indie for a change. It may just open your eyes to music that is not only as diverse as it is complex, but also to a whole 'nother world.

Try listening to Agalloch, Sigur Ros, Anterior, or even Burzum. You’ll never want to listen to “Grammy” music or “MTV” music again.

It would be a long stretch to say I go out of my way to listen to the radio. I heard this crap on tv when it was mixed into some program.

My main genres are rock/alternative/metal/rap/house/chillout. I can tolerate some of this commercial music, but most of it bothers me, so I try avoid it.

There’s obviously a market for it though, as you can tell from some of the responses.

It’s interesting; N.E.R.D. use to have some interesting shit in their music, and they just went terrible. They remind me of an [even worse] version of Gnarles Barkley. There are, however, a lot of really talented musicians in the mainstream market. For one, Justin Timberlake. Oh yeah, I said it. Like him or not, I know I don’t, the man’s pretty talented. He just happens to make shitty music that gets him millions of dollars a year and a boat load of women to have sex with…

No one said pop stars were dumb, that’s for sure.

Except the Simpson sisters. They suck in all ways possible, really.

To be fair, I grouped Timberlake into boybands even when he went solo and hated him for ages, but I’ll admit I actually like his last album and tracks with other artists (Snoop & Timberland, for example).

What the fuck is wrong with Gnarles Barkely?

I think some of you just have bad taste. I can’t stand that NERD song, but apparently someone likes it because they keep buying their shit.

I liked some of his other stuff, like “Can I Have It Like That” with Gwen Steph, but much of it sounds like he is trying to copy Timberland’s unique use of different random sounds to come up with a beat. The difference is, Timberland’s shit actually sounds good most of the time.

I thought Gnarles’ previous album was pretty good, but his latest work was a let down for me - I can recall liking 1 or 2 songs on it.

Timberland’s work is good, I like almost all his work.

I don’t see the point of releasing music that’s “made to be stupid”, let alone listening to it.

I thought “In Search Of…” was a great album.

i didnt mind it, but i dont get the hype of why they’re so popular, there last album didnt impress me yet people kept going on about how good it was, some of there stuff off their first album was decent…i also dont get why people go crazy over there production i can count on one hand the amount of decent beats they’ve produced
Why is Jay-Z humping that guy in your avatar?

One would hope.

Whats interesting is that Pharrell and Timbaland are both from same area of Virginia…as well as Missy Elliot.

Pharrell/Chad got started under Teddy Riley OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL…and Timbaland under DeVante Swing from Jodeci(who also gave him his “namesake”). So maybe this explains the similarities, but also the differences in their music.

The biggest thing for me is that both of their production starts to sound the same in every song from time to time…more so in Timbaland.

Neptunes still have that high school big band influence in their music…more as of late…which I don’t like as much. Pharrell uses more drums, sharp snares, and synthesizer riffs…Timbaland use more upfront bass with the snares and techo sounds.

I do like Pharrell’s(and Chad’s) production on Jay-Z’s “I Know” from American Gangster album. Just thought I’d share that.

Don’t you have a thread for that music already? We get it,you hate all music except for “real” metal

I don’t like this song. I’m guessing it’s off their new album. The song ‘Spaz’ is pretty tight if you just block out the lyrics. This new album is pretty weak lyrically but aside from the song you posted I think the new beats are good.

Sometimes bands just pick shitty songs off their albums for radio singles. I think another big, recent mistake was Trent Reznor making “Capital G” as a Radio Single for last years album “Year Zero.”

It’s not a terrible song, but a lot of people who actually buy his albums that I’ve talked to agree that it’s one of the weakest songs on that fantastic album.

‘Rock Star’ will always kick ass.

I don’t know how much the Neptunes had to do with the first Clipse but this song also is pretty goddamn dank.

“I got cane like a cripple…” Are your rhymes that sweet? Didn’t think so. Go Home.
