I definitely want to come that way and meet up with you, LR, RSGZ, Renton, even a few others. I would absolutely love an analysis of my dysfunctions (I have plenty for you).
Great writeup, LR. BBB is one cool mofo. Good to see the guy successful and happy.

By the way, BBB recommended one of these to me.
I’ve been using it to loosen up some muscles in my legs the past couple of weeks and it kicks ass.
Wow. I was thinking of a way to make something like that - a “bearing” like massager - but didn’t know it already existed. I have to pick one up now.
Is the smoothness of the ball bearing an issue, or does it still roll enough on the skin? Seems like it would slip…[/quote]
It hasn’t been an issue for me yet. It may be an issue if you were trying to roll on oily skin I imagine, but it turns quite easily and only when pressing very hard is the rotation limited (I tested it to see if it rolls enough).

Sounds like a great trip. If you, or BBB, don’t mind me asking, where in Wales in he located?
I have been wanting to get thoroughly checked out for ages, and having someone who is so into training like BBB to go to would be awesome.
I live near Pontypridd, about 12 miles north of Cardiff. Where are you?

I’m in Swansea, so not far at all. I am definately interested in an assessment in the near future. I was going to go to the physical therapist guy at the Uni here, but I don’t think he will know much about the lifting aspect of things.
For people in Montreal, Quebec, Canada I recommend checking out the McGill Sports Medicine Clinic ( http://www.mcgill.ca/athletics/sportsmedicine/ ). They have doctors, PTs, and Osteopaths that specialize in sports related injuries and sports performance. When I went I found out a lot of things that helped me to understand my imbalances. What made me realize that it was a decent place is when the doctor told me “I don’t want you to stop what you are doing because you obviously enjoy it, I want to help you get back to doing it at 100% as soon as possible”.
As far as else where in the world I would assume looking at Sports Medicine clinics and at Universities would be a good place to start. Most Universities that have big sports programs have full-time sports doctors, PTs, etc. on staff that offer their services to the general public especially during the off season. Since they are use to dealing with athletes they probably won’t tell you to stop training in a certain way and are more performance oriented.

That thing is pretty cool. I used BBB’s one as well. RSGZ, did you get that one in the pic with the heavy stainless steel ball? Or one of the other ones?

It’s very steady and can apply a lot of pressure. I was very impressed by it, and it’s effect, it’s on my list of things to buy soon along with orthotics.
It does say on the website to take care when using it with oils because the grip can become slippery, but that warning only comes with the Heavy Stainless Steel one in case you drop it on your foot or something.

I’d be up for meeting up with more members from T-Nation, especially if any of the Internationals are passing this way. I know there’s UK meet being planned for this Summer.
But I don’t know how much I can offer in the way of training expertise, with me being a total newbie myself. You’ll have to make do with a cold beer and tour of London.
That would be ‘chiropractor’ that I am legally restricted from calling myself. Or indeed, any other legally protected title - surgeon, Dr, DC, physiotherapist, porn star, etc.

Best of luck with the new venture, i may also avail of your services… does one get a free sheep with every visit
