So, I still have a very long way to go, but I am uploading videos frequently. So it might be interesting to follow this thread. I made another thread, but I believe that the title was not so appealing.
So here is a video of my snatches, overheadsquat, and my first time trying the squat jerk.
here is the next video of some clean and push jerks, some squat jerks and some brachiatlon. Brachiatlon is great fun and hanging and swinging is great for your mobility.
Here are some more squatjerks with 55kg it is quite dificult, I can do push jerks with 110kg, but squat jerks with just half of it are very challenging, but I believe that in the end, I will be able to jerk more.

Hey Bart!
I think this is turning into a training log. You might consider posting in that venue. I don’t give a rip, but some of the forum nerds might…
Just a personal offering, I’d like to see a more deliberate and even violent change in direction vs the bar. I think you’re going to get to a weight you can clean and have a pretty steep learning curve for the jerk.
Donny Shankle offers some pretty lively commentary about both the pull of a clean and the jerk… If you have the time.
Hey Drew,
Thanks for the advice, I definetely need to step up my game with the jerks. Working hard on it. I’ll look up the videos of Donny Shankle to see what you mean. Hmm It kind of is a thread where I post my videos of olympic lifting. I also do other things which I also post in my log, I am not sure whether this is fine. If somebody would want me to change the thread I will gladly adjust.
These movements can be hard to master. I’m not guru, but when you get form try to more explosive (under control).
Hey Jon, for sure they are hard to master and I am not sure if I will ever master them completely. Perhaps my road will not reach the destination, but my technique is improving, when it gets better, I’ll need to change my program to emphasis speed and power rather than technique for sure, to do my lifts more explosively.
Here is the current status of my snatch technique and a short explanation of how I improved it.
I have been working a lot on my snatch technique.
I didn’t use to extend my legs enough, but that problems seems to be adressed now. I solved this with 2 drills.
-
doing powersnatches from below the knee. I did this because I was going under the bar before completing the extension, so I decided to do a power variant and a below the knee paused power snatch is great, because it is easier to control.
-
Drop snatches after a jerk drive, this simulates receiving the bar after a full extension.
Some isometric training for Push/Squat Jerk
I know that it doesn’t look that narrow, but it is definetely narrower than my snatch grip, I am around 6,1 so I believe that I should catch the bar a little wider in general, still need to do that in the snatch but first I need to really work my wrists.
With the squat jerk I think that I will slowly go a bit narrower over time, I still lack some should mobility, but I am bit occupied with graduating, so in some weeks I can really do mobility exercises multiple times per day!
