Post PulseFast Weigh-In

(- 1.3 lb in 1 week)
Nice solid weight loss. If I keep this up, I’ll end right aabove 170 for the contest. I should be fairly lean by then. NOT stage ready, but summer abzzz lean for sure ![]()
I’m done having crappy workouts. I’m doing my back/bis tomorrow and either taking an easy week, or testing my 3RMs and doing almost nothing else lol.

Thanks, bud! Yeah I say if I take next week a bit light, I’l be setting PRs like crazy when I return ![]()
Looking leaner every day, so I can’t complain
Great progress man, you’ve been kicking ass for a while now, those pictures prove it. Good luck in the contest
Awesome! There’s no doubt after a deload weak you’ll bit hitting some kick ass PRs!
Deload
Just went in and did some explosive sets of 3 with OH, bench, and squats. Was there for 30 minutes, also did some stretching. I’ll probably just do this until Friday, and start training again then. I have work on Saturday, otherwise I would wait until then to lift.

Hey thanks a lot man! I really appreciate it

Hell yeah! Man do I hate deloading though lol. Good thing I’m back in school, or I would be bored out of my mind.
Well, I decided to start taking my HOT-ROX today lol. I figured I only have 8 weeks left of the contest, and I’ll probably go immediately back to gaining after lol, so there will be no need for the HOT-ROX when the contest is over. I’m starting with 2 pills a day for now, then I’ll go to 3 next week, and then up to 4 the week or two after that.
I’ll be gaining SLOWLY though. I honestly don’t see the point in force-feeding yourself to gain at least a pound a week. I’m just going to make sure I’m getting stronger, and not adding too much fat too fast. I’ve gained both ways (slowly vs. force feeding), and the former is where it’s at

One good thing about deloads is that you have more time to do school work. If I could I’d just skimp on the deloads since lifting helps me concentrate and relieve stress haha.
Can’t wait to see how the addition of HOT-ROXs helps your leaning out.
Slow but steady haha :). I’m actually curious if the guys on my PL team ever really cut weight and what not. It’d be interesting to find out future reference. It’d be kinda cool to at least try to cut weight like Kroczaleski for a PL meet. I won’t be planning on competing until next sem at the earliest, either in the 198s or 220s, preferably 220s :P.
If I recall you’re looking to get up to 220ish.

Sounds like a good time man! I would say you should cut and compete in the 198s. You’re right around 200 aren’t you? That’s right up your alley and you’d be competing against smaller, and more likely weaker guys lol. Not saying you couldn’t hold your own with the bigger guys, 'cause you’ve been making sick progress, but you’d kill below 200.
Yeah ideally I’d like to get to 220 by the end of the year, but I’ll be winging it down the road to see if the gains are good enough to warrant more weight (if that makes sense) lol. I’ll definitely get back over 200 by the end of the year, hopefully a comfortable 210 and we’ll see from there. As long as I’m consistently hitting PRs, I’ll be a happy man!

Yeah I’m hovering around 200. Usually when I wake up in the morning I’m at 200 even a few pounds less sometimes. So ‘cutting’ to 198 would be easy. Well I’d sure hope I could kill at 198, I really don’t know what I’d be up against. Right now, I don’t think I’d qualify for nationals haha. So that’s what I’m aiming for. I’d need a total of 1275 I think, but I’m definitely doing my best to blow that out of the water.
I know what you mean about the gains and upping your weight haha. No use getting fat if you’re not putting up more weight.

Not gonna lie, I’m jealous of your power lifting team haha. I do my our campus’ strength club though. I think I might be doing a strongman competition with our coach at the end of this month though. That’d be fun
Oh, and I’ve been obsessed with California Strength lately. I’ve had enough, I’m going to learn how to clean & jerk during my deload:

Well color me jelly as well. The facilities of your strength club are pretty awesome.
Awesome! A strongman competition sounds like loads of fun.
Yeah dude! I’ve not only been watching California Strength vids. I’ve been checking out a lot of Oly lifting stuff. Oly lifting just looks so bad ass! The only things that’s kept me from trying to learn to C&J and snatch properly is trying to get strong for PLing.
^^ I’ve seen that vid before . . . . VERY nice!
Deload
About an hour of oly practice and stretching:
NOTES: Didn’t know I had the proper flexibility to the the OH squat
lol. I’ve tried once a while ago and wasn’t able to. It’s humorous how happy I was after I did that . . . . had a BIG smile
Awesome that you’ve got the flexibility to OH squat. Last time I tried I most definitely didn’t. Maybe I’ll give 'em a shot and see if anything has changed.
As far as I can tell the Oly lifts are looking fine. But that’s not really saying much since I don’t know left from right when it comes to Oly lifting.
Hey man,
Congrats on your progress for the competition. How many weeks are left now?
Do you plan on continuing with HP Mass after your deload? (Saw your question regarding the 5 day split from CT’s spill)

I credit my newly acquired flexibility to goblet squats and shoulder dislocates. Which, ironically, are two of the only three stretching exercises California Strength recommends doing on their site lol.
Yeah, the major thing I notice is using to much of my arms to try and pull the weight up, and not enough jumping/thrusting my hips to get the bar moving.

Thanks, man! The 5th week starts today, so I have 8 weeks to go.
Nah, I pretty much answered why in your training log. Too much volume while in college. I have enough volume with homework lol. I’ll probably retest my 3RMs, and then start with his “5-Day Bodybuilding Split” after. I will most likely stick with the HP Mass principals, though.
Speaking of California Strength, I just watched their technique videos and WOW. It all makes sense and seems so simple haha. Now to practice, practice, practice. And stretch lol.
Fair enough, I study externally and my time management stinks.
I would certainly struggle with the volume if I had to fit in actual classes as well.
Really interested in how you’ll organize the split;
Do you think you will continue eccentric-less sessions?
