My Personal Journey

I like to set high goals as well. I never put a time limit on it. Just a carrot on a stick, it keeps me going forward. Just don’t push to hard right away, injuries at our age take a lot longer to heal. When the body talks the brain better listen. Sometimes or ego gets us in trouble, it like to think it’s always twenty. Mine caught me off guard again. Sometimes I think there should be a sign at the gym “check ego at door”

Cardio sounds good. I use the stairmaster a lot and I take the calorie counter with a grain of salt. They’re probable pretty close but everyone burns at a different speed. The weight scale can be misleading as well. Remember you taking off fat and putting on muscle. I’d stay away from the scale and use the mirror.

Sound like things are moving forward for . Keep it going you’re going to be so pleased with yourself you’ll probable get a sore arm from patting yourself on the back. Stay strong, this is for life.

I’ve never believed those calorie numbers on the cardio machines, I think they’re just for fun.

If you like thinking about training and calories, think about how the number of calories you burn while training is trivial compared to the number of calories you burn all day long. Training elevates your metabolism and the effect lasts as long as 36 hrs. Your training literally helps you burn more calories while you sleep!

today, lower back was still very sore, something I have been dealing with all my life. I have a low-grade case of spina-bifida, which basically means that my spinal column doesn not connect, at the bottom of my spin. What my doctor has told me is that this has no impact on my life, but I have to be careful when doing things like…the deadlift when I am out of shape.

So keeping with my philosphy of higher reps, I started with the Bench.
135-18 reps
145-12 reps
155-10
165-8
175-6
185-4

Alternated pullups with dips, max of 3 pullups and 5 dips
alternated chinups with pushups, max of 3 chinups and 20 pushups.
alternated cable crossovers with the lat pulldown.

I hated having to do the last grouping, in a perfect world, I would have ended with some power cleans and the clean and jerk, but went the safe route.

finished with 30 minutes on the elliptical.
