My New Life in Colorado...

Wednesday Sept. 22th

Me and Kevin just came back from Darryl’s room; he’s still holding a bit of water in his legs, due in part to his legs still being sore from training, and also form the flight, but he’s much tighter than yesterday when we left Colorado Springs. Compare to last wednesday, I’d say Darryl is better and tighter, and his mood, wow, not even close, he can smell the finish line coming and he’s really seems to be enjoying himself, laughing and smiling!!!

Tonight at 7h00pm is the weigh-in…untill then, it’s pool time for us guys!!! Talk to you again tonight…

I can’t even imagine peaking twice in such a short period of time.

pool time in vegas… damn you must be lovin’ the ladies and vice-versa

@cmg113: Nooooooo…we’re here only for business man, not for fun!!! Well…hahahaha!!!

@all: So we just came back from Darrl’s weigh-in; everything went smoothly, he was 185lbs, exactly we’re we want him to be, and again, tighter than this morning!

Tomorrow, he will be eating, just like today, half a cup of rice with all his meals, unless we feel like he’s becoming flat, in which case we’ll increase to a full cup. Sodium was cut today…made a big difference. Darryl is still drinking plenty of water, so his mood is excellent!

At the weigh-in, Correra was at 205lbs, so he now has until tomorrow at 9 to make weight. Kevin English was on the money, at 202 lbs flush.

Funny story…Darryl didn’t know he had to bring his posing trunk, since normally, guys keep the clothes on, furthermore guys like Darryl, who make the weight easily. But this year, they we’re filming the weigh-in, so Darryl had to strip down. Since he didn’t have his posing trunk with him, he had to wear his white Fruit of The Loom!!! And this is all on camera!!! Priceless!!! Hahahahaha!!!

Chris Aceto said they got him to sweat it out and he did make weight.

@Scott M: Thanks for the info…I guess we were gone by that time!

Thursday Sept 23th

Hey guys! We’re just coming back from Darryl’s room and let me tell you, he’s gonna be a lot dryer than Detroit!!! His legs, hams and glutes are in the same condition than last friday night, but we’re thursday morning!!!

Striation in his quads are already deep, hamstring are popping out clearly on his back poses, and striations already start to appear in his glutes…his really ahead of time compare to last thursday!!! His mood is a lot better too, it’s the Olympia, it’s Vegas, it’s the biggest bodybuilding show there is!!!

Today, since he’s so dry, Darryl earned himself 1 full cup of steamed rice instead of half a cup at each meal…doesn’t seem like that big of a deal, but let me tell you, when your dieting for so long, it a real blessing!!! Hopefully, if everything goes according to plan, tonight, juste before the athletes meeting, he’ll be even tighter and fuller, looking at his best to meet his fans!!!

Athletes meeting is at 7h00pm, so I’ll talk to you around this time guys. Countdown has begun…tic, tac, tic, tac!!!

Can’t wait for pics!!! hell, screw the pics, I can’t wait for the telecast

looking forward to it! first of all, big fan of yours alex and thanks for being such a good reporter throughout the whole process. i have a question pertaining to your training (nutrition) if you dont mind. after you finished dieting, at what rate did you increase your caloric intake back geared towards lean mass building? just wondering for future reference when i come off a diet and my body is used to that plus cardio. thanks for any response and have fun at the O!!

This post is great! I wish I had all your advice when I did my prep! Hope everything goes great as I know it will, keep this thread and training tips coming. IT IS AWESOME!

Normal clocks go tic toc tic toc. Come on now!

Jokes aside, it’s awesome to hear that he is much further ahead compared to last week. Keep up the incredible teamwork and support, the big day is almost here.

@dayme_lathrop: First, thanks for being such a good fan and thank you for your words. As for your question, after a contest, I normally go with logic! Of course, after dieting all this time, you need to cut yourself some slack, which in my case, is a week of eating what I want, no all out binge, but everything I feel like. By that time, I’ve put some weight back on. After that, your body is still prime to build some new muscle mass, so I start my offseason diet, splitting my caloric intake in 7 meals or shakes.

I always start with my protein, around 400g, 200g from animal sources, 200g from protein powder, in my case, Metabolic Drive Growth Formula (after training)\Metabolic Drive Low Carb (between meals or snacks)\Mag-10 and Anaconda (during workouts). Then, I add carbs and fats, so that I add weight, until I reach close to 10% body fat.

A good way I found was to add Surge Workout Fuel (during workout), Surge Recovery (after workouts) and Flameout and EFA3 (every solid meals). If I go over that %, I cut back on my carbs and fats. If I don’t reach 10%, I add carbs, mostly before\during\after my training.

The most important thing is not to rush things, go gradually, but don’t be afraid also to add calories, because you want to take advantage of your anabolic rebound.

I hope I answered your question…

@rylittleton and WestCoast7: Thanks so much guys for your support, its greatly appreciated!!!

I think that our success is an all out team effort, starting on top with Tim Patterson himself, who gave us, me, Kevin and Darryl, this incredible chance to eat, sleep, train in the perfect surroundings, stress free environment, and provided us with unlimited access to top of the chart products and perfect training facilities.

Then, there’s coach Thibaudeau, who comes up with all those training methods, funky exercises, diet strategies and supplementation protocol, heck, he even invented a new pull down version, to allow me to train back after I tore my right bicep tendon, thus helping me both physically and mentally to deal with my injury.

Also, my boys, Kevin and Darryl, who gave their all during the past weeks. Having such perfect training partners is pure motivation. I really think we brought the best in one each other, picking ourselves up when we needed to, cheering one each other and pushing and challenging ourselves to always thrive for more.

Last but not least, the support of all of you guys, the T-Nation, that keeps growing everyday! Even Jose Raymond, one of Darryl’s competitor in the 202’s, told us that he was amazed by our workout methods, following it on the Internet. Mark Dugdale, who placed 4th at last year O, is a huge fan of coach Thibaudeau, calling him “one of the guys he respect the most in the sport”. Many competitors came up to Darryl to tell him they watched on T-Nation’s web site the “Rocky Balboa Training”, and to congratulate him!!!

Now, we’re days away from our goal, and even if not all of you could make it to Vegas, you all played a part in our success as a unit!!! Thank you guys!!!

@all: Meet the Olympians is done, tomorrow is a pivotal day for Darryl, as he will continue to carb up as much as possible and will also cut his water around 4pm. Darryl looks awesome, again, tighter, fuller and with new striations compare not only to last thursday night, but even friday night!!! Tough to believe, since he had one of the best condition in Detroit.

Since Darryl strength is not an all out mass attack, but rather posting a razor sharp condition with round and full muscle bellies, that’s what we are trying to emphasis. The plan was to come in a better condition and fuller than Detroit and so far, so good!!! It’s amazing to see what the human body can do, and how the slightest adjustment can make the biggest difference.

Our team planed the hole week in advance, but we had to adjust slightly along the way, since Darryl’s body didn’t always reacted the way we anticipated, leading to more changes in consequences. I really think that’s one our strong points, since we have many minds working in harmony towards the same goal, each guys giving their input.

Ok…time to go to bed now. Im so anxious to see what Darryl looks like tomorrow morning, because he just keeps getting better and better. Night guys!!!

@ Alex: you sure did, i appreciate the lengthy response. As for the words, i have no problem giving such high praise to guys like you, coach, daryl, kevin, and all of the people at Biotest. in all honesty, the way you guys have come together to work towards a common goal has been more than inspiring. later after i graduate college and have my exercise science degree, i am looking forward to training and being able to help people achieve their goals. Watching and following you guys has given me even more inspiration to help people, and do it the RIGHT way. so thanks very much. as for the O, go kick some ass!!!

@dayne_lathrop: We sure will!!! Good luck in all your future project!

Stay focus and keep pushing hard!!!

The enthusiasm in this thread is contagious, keep it up Alex. Life is a great thing and thinking positive and working hard only makes it that much better.

GO GEE!

You bodybuilders are masters of dieting. I don’t know how you guys do it. Training on low carbs is miserable. I have always thought about getting on stage some day. I compete in power lifting. Very different goals and training methods but we share a passion for doing battle with the iron.

@alphaSC: Indeed we do!!! It’s true we do train on low carbs, which is tough, but you guys lift weights that could tear apart the toughest of tendons (tell me about it…I tore my bicep tendon trowing a 25lbs ball in the air!!! lol!).

I guess every sport as his tough part…everyone has a path, I personally found mine, and couldn’t do it any other way!!!
