My Mom Threw Away My Creatine

I ordered the Biotest creatine and began using it yesterday. My mom saw it and freaked out saying that its really bad for me and she printed out a couple of articles suggesting creatine leads to dehydration and kidney failure. She threw it away when i was gone this morning and gave me 10 bucks. She said if i ordered anymore it would be thrown out and I wouldnt be given money. This is very insulting to me since I did lots of research and never found any PROVEN negative side effects. Im really mad and probably am going to just go out today and pick up some more. Im 16 and she said that I shouldnt be taking it at my age.

Could you guys give me some cited facts to back my case up?
throw away her makeup and tell her it is not ‘natural’ and she shouldn’t be using it at her age.

Yeah ive been doing the eating really clean thing for a good 7 months now. I just want to feel creatine out. I mean who knows it might give me an edge. I definitly agree with what everyone has had to say about eating whole foods.

Im still continuing to eat healthy, the way I have been, but I just want to see how creatine effects me. Ive been training and eating healthy for enough time for it possibly have a noticable effect. I just want to find what all the buzz was about.

You should tell her straight out, "Mom, I’ve really been working hard for seven months. In that time, I’ve increased my squat and deadlift by V pounds, increased my overhead press and pull-ups W pounds.

I make sure to get X calories and Y grams of protein every day, and best of all, I sleep for Z hours every single night.

To take the next step towards my goals, and because I already have my post-workout nutrition organized, many strength coaches and trainers would agree that creatine is the safest and most effective supplement for me right now."

Um… you do know your numbers for V, W, X, Y, and Z, right?

well, your mom actually gave you money back so i think she sounds pretty cool and wouldn’t play the challenge card here. save it. the small boost you may get from creatine is nothing you can’t get from eating lots of meat, working hard and getting consistent rest.

and that’s not worth the risk of causing a rift w/ your mom and going up on her radar. choose your battles.
X2

Seriously… creatine is not worth the fight, especially at your age. If you are going to continue then I guess hide it. But it does sound like your mom thinks she is doing the best thing for you. That is much better than the opposite and you should be grateful for that.

Best advice yet. Say, “yes ma’am,” and then the above.

What? How is Creatine only 10 bucks?

Man that throw the booze out idea is genius. I wish I was this kid so I could go back and be in the same situation. My mom would be so pissed if I started pouring the booze down the drain. Unfortunately so would dad though, actually dad would be a lot more upset. Come to think of it, I wouldn’t pour the booze down the drain.

Go with one of these nifty hiding techniques if you really want to try creatine. I wouldn’t take it though, you are young and outside protein & maybe fish oil you shouldn’t be taking anything else.

Get some chick pregnant then she’ll stop worrying about the creatine.

I think that’s properly called diversion tactics.

If you live with your mom chances are you are young enough not to need supplements.

Spend your money on whole food protein.

You will be on your own soon enough and then you can do what you want.
That is well said.

That is really true.
