So deep tissue is really helpful for athletic types. Swedish is more a relaxation massage. Women at high priced spas like to get them. The guy I had last time offered light or medium pressure and I asked for medium so it was a bit of a cross between relaxation and good muscle massage.

I’ve tried variations of Chinese reflexology (applying pressure points to the base of the feet and hands to determine problem areas such as lack of sleep, heart problems, tight shoulders, not enough water etc). Tried shoulder, back massages before (also by a Chinese traditional medicine therapist), felt drained but good afterwards.

The legit ones in Thailand are really good, twist here and there and a cracking sound or two. But afterwards the sleep is fantastic. Even in Thailand which is not really a tipping culture a few extra notes of the local currency is always welcomed (total package a fraction of what you’d pay in the USA - as expected).
