My Left Shoe

thanks all, for the concern… while the exact cause of the squat headache is still unknown, I’ve come up with this regarding the others. the pain in the ass muscle group that i cant pay much quality attention to, the one that gets neglected most, is my pecs.

tight pecs pulling on my shoulder girdle could be causing my traps to overcompensate, which could be causing my SCM’s (sternocleidomastoid) to tighten up.
^^^^
one of my ex’s used to tell people he is a NMT, and I learned a bunch of that kind of stuff from him. I’ll get mom to help me asap with the pec release. could be alot more fun with someone else, if it could be done through nipple stimulation. i’ll settle for mom at this point.

on the off chance im not completely making shit up, i see why an extended set on a lift like that (newer to me, not that heavy) when im used to doing <10 reps per set, would have aggravated a potential neck problem.

on another note…

OH!!! IO!!!

^^^
I like the nostalgic effect in this one.

arachne- YES!! I get those sometimes, too. i wonder why. i’ll think about it.

t and kimba, you’re sweet!

Ronaldo. yes. explosion. yikes!

lanchefan1- i figured it was haha funny, and thanks for the compliment! I live on those, u can stick around if u want.

That’s a bit scary. Definitely do some stretching - not just pecs but neck, traps and front delts as well. And foam roll that shit.

Arachne - sounds like valsalva effect. I get orthostatic hypotension anyway, so I have to be careful I don’t grey out during deadlifting.

Every time I see the tittle of this thread, I think of elitaballa holding a shoe. Sorry just had to get it out there…carry on.

so i see you’ve read the first page.

im in awe.

Actually it went like this.

1.Read the tittle

2.Remembered that I’ve read that tittle before and though “elitaballa holding a shoe”

3.Clicked the thread and saw a video.

4.Watched the video, paying very close attention to form.

5.Posted “Every time I see this…bla bla”

6.Watched the video again and notice there were plates on the bar.

7.The end.

better?
WOW-o-WOW!!

training

bench, 5/3/1

x5- bar, 65, 85, 95, 115

x3- 125

x amrap- 140x3 ← didnt get the explosion headache, but i def felt it coming and cut it short. im also thinking maybe i should go through and do the math for this thing, instead of guestimating.

incline db flyes- 1x15 15lb dbs, 2x15 20lb dbs

reverse curls on the cable machine 1x15 50lbs, 2x15 70lbs.

Ok so between the 2nd and 3rd set i hung a 25lb plate on the cable to see how “off” those stacks are. i had to set the stack at 40, with a 5lb ‘extra’ plate on it for it to come out even. what a jip

I had mom help me with some pec stretching this afternoon- its odd to explain, and its something my first coach taught me- have someone grab your pec (literally, like for dear life)on the lateral portion near your armpit, then raise and lower your arm until you feel some pressure release. hurts like a son of a bitch, but i def felt better afterward. while i was at the gym i did some of that lovely extreme stretching for my chest and my tri’s, and i plan on doing some more work tonight, including tiger balm.

i’m also gonna clean up my diet some… not EXACTLY the cause of my headache problem, but it certainly cant hurt. and if i get leaner, oh well. i just dont want to drop a crapton of weight. general plan is low carb high fat except for right around my lifting. and clean carbs, at that. cutting out the mt dew, and soda pop in general, and consuming copius amounts of green tea. (i have about 2L of lime water every night anyway, so shut ur pie hole, T)

chocolate milk will be included when i feel its necessary.

Without a video, I am nowhere on the pec stretching. It would undoubtedly be a popular video, but I understand why you might pass.

That is hugely disappointing on the cable machine. But your method of determining the degree of weight inflation bull-shit is genius (of course, it wouldn’t be weight DEflation, now would it). How did you hang the plate from the cable?

mt. dew and soda pop have no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Chocolate milk, on the other hand, is delicious.

pass cuz im shy, rite? lmao. it would be something interesting to post.

“Hey mom, grab my pit again, and this time, Dad, u g’head and tape it. Cus imma post it on the internet. cus it’ll help people. no, i dont think everyone is like me. no, we dont all lift the same weights, but its not directly related to… yes, i know once its on the internet it stays for forever… no, it’s not a sex thing… alright goddamnit are you gonna do it or should i stop someone in walmart and ask for their assistance?”

I used a straight bar (bout 2 feet long) for my reverse curls, and slid the plate onto one end of the bar… and made sure it didnt come crashing back down onto my face. so it may be a bit off, depending on the weight of the straight bar, etc, but 20lbs is enough of an idea for me.

the deliciousness isn’t up for debate. mmmmm. if i stay on this and don’t half ass it, i’ll be cutting out most dairy eventually anyway, so i’ll enjoy it while i let myself have it.

Shy = not, but you got it in one. Explaining this whole…thing…to mom mid-boob grab. Yeah, maybe not.

I am totally doing this. If’n I only KNEW the deal with the fucking weight, I would use that cable machine more. Need to quantify much? Who me?

There are many, many things I willingly don’t eat: cake, cookies, crackers, potato chips, soda, fruit juice…etc. But they will have to pry my delicious dairy foods out of my cold, dead, grasping fingers.

can i open my pie hole for a moment to say i’m glad you avoided the skull explosion/fire stuff?

yeah, my traps were a bit on fire this eve and i tennis balled the crap out of them. glad your pecs got stretched, even if you had to have your mum help you. the video commentary…par for the course, you jackass.

If you’re drinking 2l of lime water every evening, aren’t you waking up to pee every half hour? (Just a question cos, well, I would be).

This pec stretching does sound interesting - and I for one would love to see a vid with the entire Cbear family basically pulling at you. CB, if they’re anything like you, I’m sure their commentary would be priceless

you drink soda?! :open_mouth: the diet chemical or non?

I bet cutting that alone, you’ll drop 10 lbs in a month!

T, really, you may open your pie hole at any moment. just be aware that i might put something in it.

cal- I might get up once, more toward morning… i tend to have hibernation tendencies. haha! srsly tho.

Masch- they’re a lot like me, if you mean sense of humor/sarcasm. We almost always laugh to the point of tears when we get together.

mim- yikes! not trying to drop weight!!! NOOOO!

see: from my first post on this page-
Cbear84 wrote: i’m also gonna clean up my diet some… not EXACTLY the cause of my headache problem, but it certainly cant hurt. and if i get leaner, oh well. i just dont want to drop a crapton of weight. general plan is low carb high fat except for right around my lifting. and clean carbs, at that. cutting out the mt dew, and soda pop in general, and consuming copius amounts of green tea.
It might be your neck that’s giving you trouble. I had those headache issues before and a few sessions with an ART doc and his Graston steel rod of torture* loosened my neck enough to not have those problems. In lieu of ART, some neck massaging while getting your pecs worked on could help that out.

*“Graston steel rod of torture” is a registered copyright of Doug Adams LLC

pec torture…that makes me want to go watch willow! lol

Doug beat me to it. What you were doing with your mom is ART…messin with the trigger points can be quite painful but it gets the job done.
Can’t wait to take that class so I can mess with mine.

I know your not trying to drop weight…but what I meant is that your weight may drop naturally giving up the liquid cals…

hope your headaches get better…I’ve been getting migraines, but I think its the HOT-ROX!

Probably is the HOT-ROX - they can do that to some people.

CBear - you must have a very capacious bladder.
Oh and btw, tattoo pic on Deja’s thread - ouch ouch ouch!

So have you thought of a title for your next thread? I think you are close to being locked.

PS: Mountain Dew is evil. hehe.

Doug and Skye- i settled on the pec release to start things because it’s the one area I really haven’t figured out how to work on it on a regular basis. so, tight pecs leading to tight traps leading to tight SCM’s… I could be all wrong, but it needed to be done even if its not related to the cause of the headaches.

MIM-> sorry about the HOT-ROX headaches, yikes!!

Cal- I do have a pretty awesome bladder, i guess. and the tattoo- 2 &1/2 hours, but it stayed right around, “ok, that’s kind of annoying” on the pain scale.

Tootles- well hey there pretty lady! yes, i have thought of a title for my next log, but im always open to suggestions. Kinda makes me feel like i should start posting less bullshit so as to end on a good note. nah.

work was incredibly busy today, and I closed, so I knew I wasnt going to the gym. I ended up shoveling the parking lot at Dad’s office, and then a good portion of my parents driveway (I’m pretty sure the driveway is bigger than the parking lot).

I won’t call it cardio, but it was a lovely workout indeed.
^^
A “c” word even I dont like saying.
