My Left Shoe

oh you had a decent spotter? makes a fucking world of difference, doesnt it?

Heh, you’re all heading for bed and I’m up and getting ready to head out to work. There’s fucking snow on the ground here (very unusual in London this time of year). Cold and icky and I don’t want to go.

Good spotters are like golddust - hang on to him.

lol at this

Holy hell, Fallen, don’t anger it!
Claire’s a big girl, she’s just finished her finals, it’s Christmas and if she wants to get blow off some steam, who are we to judge?

have you been drinking tonight, miss?

I cant be drunk there’s still liquor in the bottle- G
A wise woman like yourself should not be drinking. It clouds that marvelous mind of yours. It suprises me you would do such a thing. You seemed to me far stronger than that.
If you truly believe that Claire is wise, then i’d think that you could trust her judgement better.

Hi, Claire!

cal you crack me up. blowing off steam. lol. normally i dont keep any alcohol in the house whatsoever. and i wasnt out… just me, my pets, and the dog and cat.

hungry, nice to see u around!

you too, fallen. Im sure there was a compliment in there somewhere.

No fuckin’ way.

Bumper plates + a good spotter = win, though. (Don’t ask why a spotter is necessary with bumper plates, I just figure if they’re good individually, they must be awesome together. like peanut butter and chocolate)

X2… I’m getting some in my gym pronto. Bumper plates and a good squat rack are tied on the useful, versatile and badass scale - which is how we rank our equipment list

No bumpers in mine but at least they’re rubber coated, and there’s a rubber floor. I’m just thankful my local authority gym has several oly bars, a proper bench press bench and a squat rack.

print- lmfao. im wondering. if its my boss and his wife, who’s the second m? sorry to let u down, we skipped going out to dinner… neither one of us felt like it.

ronaldo- how exactly would bumper plates negate the necessity of a spotter while front squatting?

cal and bobbi- i would buy and donate a reverse hyper before i talked to them about bumper plates. i tried talking to the manager and a few trainers about a prowler, and they looked at me like they were watching caterpillars fuck. yeah. that look you got on your face when u read that.

so, there’s sushi takeout and chocolate milk this evening. wonder if i can pull my happy ass outta bed early enough tomorrow to train before work. if not, there’s always sunday!

Because you can drop the weight and not ruin the weights and bar…also it’s cool to watch hundreds of pounds bounce.

Yeah, I go to a gym just like that one. I’m lucky that there is one squat rack.

Spotters can do stupid things sometimes, even good ones. I just have a hard time trusting others. Like sometimes they can lie and say “it was all you in that last rep” when in fact you know they helped you a little. With bumpers you either make it, you drop it or you tear something in your body :D.

first time i had 185 on my back is the first and only time ive had to dump it… fucking spotter grabbed my lats to spot me, and i wasnt expecting it.

the “tearing something in your body” is the part im trying to avoid. i sheared an erector 2 months after i started lifting, and it was 6 months outta the gym for me. i dont want to repeat that, or have anything else happen, thank you very much.

I was just kidding about the “tearing something is your body” part. Honestly if you have good form then you just make it or drop it. and about the spotters…I remember this guy, he was huge I mean muscular huge lol so I decide to ask him for a spot on back squats. I do my first rep and he touched my back as well and I just felt like it took my attention away from the movement…then I go for my second rep and when I get to the top he tells me “you don’t need to go that deep” yea he couldn’t wait till I was done with my set to give me “advice”. Now I only trust my weightlifting coach to spot me.

ya i tend to cheat myself with lighter weights for lack of a spotter… most of my best lifts have happened when i was in KY and lifting with serious people. driving to columbus to lift isnt time or gas efficient at the moment. still hoping to convert a few more gym regulars… cant say im not an optimist
CBear84 wrote:
wow bwg thats a huge compliment, esp coming from you!!
I HATE, repeat HATE front squats. I rarely do them, and if you do them regularly that makes you so freakin hardcore…I do them because god damn it makes you look like a badass, and it is rare that even guys do them in my gym. I have trained almost all my chicks to do them do, just for that reason…ever want to sack up you can do front squat bar placement lunges. THAT will get you some looks. Havent done em yet but Ive trained with them…
