Sorry to interrupt the deep bromance going on here, while you two arrange a cordial meeting to deflower each other, but strong pressing in here Claxorz. PR’ing like a boss, come meet day.

Deadlift
365x2
405x2 PR
-add rev avg band; measured and took off ~90lb off the floor, complete deload at lockout
435x1
455x1 PR
Shrugs
225x20
315x20
Back Ext
BWx2x10
Light Bandx10
Standing Band Abs
Avgx3x15
Notes: Pulls went just how I had planned. The bands deloaded right around my sticking point so that was good, forced me to pull through. Everything is feeling good, I will definitely be using reverse band more in the future as it will help my deadlift lockout. Very happy with how today went.
Squat
355x1 ez
-add rev mini’s; took off less than 40lbs in the hole
380x1 ez
405x0 technical screw up, flew out the hole, hit the half squat point and didnt drive my elbows under. Put myself in a position that I couldnt recover from. No big deal, need to remember my cues though.
Leg Curl
2x15
Leg Ext
2x15
Calf Stretch
2 sets
Did some TKE’s with a light band and rumble rolled everything.
Notes: Good day overall, squats went well and like I said I just need to go over my cues before each squat in my head. Gonna hit a lighter bench tomorrow, then rest til the meet!
Numbers are definitely edging up… looking forward to see how it translates to the meet as I know so little about the training style it’s hard to predict!
Overall alot of fun, competed 198s again. The meet was ran well even for it being a small meet.
Squat
355 - good
380 - miss
380 - good; PR
Bench
245 - good
265 - miss
265 - miss
Deadlift
405 - good
425 - good
445 - miss; got ROBBED of this lift; even though it is not counting in my total, it is counting as a PR for me
Can say I left a lot out on the platform. I will be changing my training up to BUILD strength. Looking back through my logs I have been testing strength and not building it. I think this is a big reason for the stagnation I’ve been in for the last few months and it really sucks. Not planning to do another meet til late fall and my plan is to crush all previous numbers I have put up.
Shame the meet didn’t go perfectly but with your training environment I’m sure you’ll crush the numbers later this year. Congrats on getting the squat.
Pb way to go on the PRS my man. You’ve come a long ways though and you still have a long ways that you can potentially get to, way to keep perspective on this.
You know i noticed i had the same problem regarding building strength instead of testing it too much. Instinctively i know i make better progress increasing my lifts in the 3-5 rep range. But it’s hard to stick to that because you always want to see how far you can go.
Thanks heracles, appreciate it. Yeah, I think its the same way for me and my training will reflect that from now on. The main focus will be BUILDING the strength like everyone should be doing!
