+1. I’d kill for one of those benches.

Meh, nothing special. Im probably not going to use it again and just bench out the rack. Figured Id give it a shot, but I cant really set up the same with it. Weird ass piece of equipment, def prefer a regular bench over that any day.

You prefer regular bench even without a spotter?

Yeah, will only have a spotter to spot me on max effort day. A liftoff is nice, but im not getting a random liftoff to fuck me up. I can unrack the bar and stay tight perfectly fine. May use that bench again on RE day but DEFINITELY not using it on ME day.

Yeah, it looks cool, but when you think about it it isn’t any different from using any other bench. To get same effect on a regular bench or in cage, just set up farther back with the bar over your neck/upper chest and not over your eyes. Tiny press out, and you’re there. There’s no reason to need to pull the bar out 12" from the pins on a bench, just like there’s no reason to unrack a squat and move back 3’ from the rack. Bar moves up and down, so you don’t need all that clearance.

But, you know that, lol.

You make a good point Ink, I’m gonna grab my balls with this issue and set up as far back as I can without hitting the pins.

Good, do it man. Do it on all reps though, obviously, not just the top set.

I would advise not to set up lower than your chin. Its going to have to be an experiment cause it depends on how far you press back and if you let your elbows flare and shit. If u set up too far back when you press back youre gonna go right into the rack lol.

Yeah, I don’t spend enough time in lower weight ranges just hammering technique, so this is critical for me.

Yeah I’ve been there haha, I will experiment, the main thing is to actually keep in my mind is going as far back as possible as long as I dont hit the pins, as it does make unracking twice as easy.

sry 4 hijack

Well u cant expect to unrack right with your eyes under the bar lol. Even when I have a liftoff the bar is still about in line with my nose. Dont want to have to bring the bar out a bazillion inches.

Yeah, it’s obvious stuff I guess, but for me at least it’s worth imprinting in my mind.

So agreed, once I figured this out it made a big difference.
